UAE and Israel Agree On Visa-Free Travel For Nationals

An agreement between the UAE and Israel have been made to make the travel for their citizens between the two countries visa-free. Another agreement has been made as well with the establishment of the 3 Billion Abraham Fund in promoting economic cooperation and development in the Middle East.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made the announcement after the first-ever official UAE delegates has landed on the country last Tuesday.

"Today, we are making history in a way that will stand for generations," said Netanyahu, addressing the delegation at Ben Gurian Airport in Tel Aviv.

Netanyahu hosted a trilateral summit meeting involving the US Secretary of the Treasury Steven Menuchen and UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs Obaid Humaid Al Tayer and the UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.

Aside from the visa-free deal, the UAE and Israel are also expected to sign a deal that will allow 28 weekly commercial flights between Israel's Ben Gurion Aiport, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.

Visitors Coming To The UAE Are Required to Have Returned Tickets

According to leading airlines and travel agents, passengers inbound UAE must have a valid return ticket, or else entry will be denied.

This rule is currently being enforced strictly, where passengers from India and Pakistan found themselves to be stranded at the Dubai International Airport after they have been denied entry because of not meeting entry requirements. Most of these passengers were asked to return to their home countries last Thursday.

Air India and Indigo have issued the same notice to passengers and travel agents.

According to the circular, "We have been informed by the authority concerned in Dubai that passengers with visit and tourism visas arriving in the emirate without a return ticket will not be permitted entry. It is a must for all passengers traveling from India to Dubai on a visit or tourist visa to hold a valid return ticket. In absence of the same, we would be constrained to offload the passenger at the check-in point or boarding point in India or refuse entry in Dubai by deporting the passenger at their own cost and expense."

Pakistan International Airlines also announced through their website about the entry requirements like the show money of AED 2,000, return ticket, and hotel booking or reference on a relative.

UAE-Israel Flights Soon To Happen

A commercial aviation agreement between Israel and the UAE will be signed in the coming days and will signal the start of regular flights between the two countries, according to Ofer Malka, director-general of Israel's Transportation Ministry.

This came after the historic Abraham Accord in Washington DC between the UAE, Bahrain, and Israel, creating a historic breakthrough to advance peace in the Middle East region.

After UAE normalized ties with Israel, Bahrain followed suit. Saudi Arabia has agreed to allow flights coming to and from Israel to pass through their airspace. Despite this, there has no news of any plans for establishing formal ties with Israel.

According to Bal Krishen, chairman of Century Financial, an estimated 1.25 million tourists will travel between the two countries for tourism and business purposes, 0.75 million visitors coming from the UAE, and 0.5 million visitors coming from Israel.

"The UAE with its bustling life has always been the most popular tourist destination in the region. Israel, known for its ancient archaeological and architectural sites, is also a well-known and popular tourist destination for European and American travelers," said Krishen.

Treat Your Mark As A Vaccine

People working in the medical field, particularly doctors, have asked residents to keep their face masks on and not be complacent. Last Wednesday, around 1,431 new COVID-19 cases have been reported.

According to Dr. Abhilash Ramachandran Nair, people lower their guard and take off their masks most of the time when going to restaurants. While waiting for the food, they take off their masks and then talk. He warned that the risk of infection is much higher indoors than outdoors.

Doctors said that another factor of people lowering their guard is that a considerable number of people are not willing to accept that the pandemic is much more than common flu. And some people as well, are dismissing this as an overreaction to the pandemic case. They warned that ignorance of the seriousness of the situation can lead to heavy and difficult consequences.

Dr. Rahul Mathur, specialist internal medicine at Prime Medical Centre in Al Nahda, Sharjah, noted that before there was a lot of fear and panic coming from the residents that they would avoid social gatherings and even wearing two face masks at the same time. Now, it's just nothing and they don't hesitate to take off their mask.

People have gained overconfidence from this, thinking that the strain of the virus has weakened, but in reality it, from previous news, it has evolved to something much more infectious. People have gained overconfidence that most of the time they take off their masks when in public transportation or don't maintain social distancing protocols.

Luckily, the treatment has become robust. However, this shouldn't be an excuse for us to lower our guard against the virus.

The UAE has crossed the 100,00 mark on recovered cases in the country, increasing the recovery rate to 15 percent in just one week.
