"Light Up 2018" is a Guinness World Record attempt.
Although there will be no fireworks to welcome 2018 at the world's tallest tower, the laser light show dubbed "Light Up 2018" is a Guinness World Record attempt.

Celebrations at Downtown Dubai officially kicked off at 5pm, starting with The Dubai Fountain shows and live deejays providing entertainment to the huge crowd.

Areas restricted for families have been set up while bachelors also have dedicated areas to watch the show from giant screens spread across Downtown Dubai.

A new monument in Dubai

THE DUBAI FRAME - Bridge Between Past & Future

◆ The frame measures 150 metres high and 93 metres wide.
◆ The two towers are connected by a 100-square-metre bridge, which has a 25-square-metre glass panel in the middle.
◆ It was designed by award-winning architect Fernando Donis, who also designed Dubai’s Porsche Design Towers, and the Dubai Renaissance Tower.
◆ There will be a museum on the ground floor that will showcase Dubai’s transformation from fishing village to metropolis.
◆ It is predicted the frame will become a major tourist destination in the city, like the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab.
◆ The project is worth Dhs160 million.
