We Love Uzbekistan - O'zbekiston Welcome to Uzbekistan - an oasis of peace, a land where ancient history and modern culture converge, located at the mid point of the Great Silk Road!

Uzbekistan is the true heart and soul of the region with a rich agrarian, settled, culture-laden atmosphere. It’s ancient cities some up the shear romanticism of the region – from Samarkand to Bukhara…a heady scent of the Old Silk Road. It never disappoints. The image and the reality are heavily intertwined here. Muslim scholars, traditional dress, bountiful food from the steppe, the music, the architecture... it’s all here - the heart of cultural Turkic-speaking Central Asia.”

As most of our guests know, Uzbekistan is a land where more than 90% of the population is Muslim. We respect all other religions and races and are always happy to welcome everyone! We would like to wish a Happy Ramadan to all Muslims. Unfortunately, our brothers and sisters in Palestine cannot fully celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. We are heartbroken and saddened by this and pray for peace; the sooner, the better. Humanity needs peace and prosperity in all spheres of life—such as science, technology, education, and medicine—and should invest in these, not in wars, which have become a common practice among some big powers. People need to realize the faultiness of these approaches. Let us all pray for peace across the whole world. Happy Ramadan, and may there be peace all over the world.

In Uzbekistan, near Samarkand, in a place called ChorChinor, there is a park of plane trees (Platanus) that are 1200 years old or more. Inside one of the trees, there is a room. They say that this was once a meeting place for Sufis. Later, it was a place for a village council and even a village school. A group of 12 people can sit freely inside this plane tree. The photo shows a trunk funnel inside a tree.

A guide for the visitors of Uzbekistan. Registration in Uzbekistan.
The immigration regulations of Uzbekistan require that all foreigners present in Uzbekistan be registered with the local authorities immediately upon arrival in Uzbekistan. Tourists staying at hotels and students living in dormitories are automatically registered. All other foreigners must register themselves with a local (district or city level) Administration for Migration and Citizenship (AM&C). A tourist visa cannot be extended in Uzbekistan. Visitors staying in the country for up to 3 days do not need to register. Please note, that these regulation require the foreigner to have a valid registration by the morning of the third business day of their presence in Uzbekistan. Therefore, U.S. Citizens who plan to reside anywhere but hotels in Uzbekistan are advised to contact the AM&C office as soon as possible upon arrival. In the absence of registration, foreigners are liable to pay fines.
As of 2019, registration can be made online at emehmon.uz and will require close participation of the host landlord.
Fees for Registration of Foreigners and Extension of Registration in Uzbekistan
Up to one month – USD 20
Up to 2 months – USD 40
Up to 3 months – USD 60
Up to 6 months – USD 100
Up to one year – USD 200
Fines for Not Registering
According to the Uzbekistan Code on Administrative Responsibilities and the Criminal Code foreigners without proper registration are subject to fines and deportation. The fines range from $1000 to $12000.
If you pay a fine, make sure you get a receipt for the payment and a copy of the report filled out by an AM&C officer who imposed the fine.
Registration Procedure
Since 2017, Uzbekistan has been frequently changing its laws and regulations related to foreign travelers. Please ask your hosts to contact the district office of AM&C where they reside for the latest overview of the registration procedure. You will need to provide your passport and possibly appear with the landlord at this office for registration. There is a fee associated with this registration process (see above).
The owner of the apartment/house where you plan to reside must come with you to this office.
