What do I do? And my journey.......
As a little girl, I remember always being asked by some-one or the other in my family whom I can’t even recall, Sara; he or she would say, “What do you want to do when you grow up?” Instantly then, without a thought, I would always answer; I want to decorate the inside of peoples’ houses. Little did I know back then, that this was actually known to the world as
“interior designing”. I just simply always loved moving furniture around, in-order to make our home more pretty. I never really lived in an overly decorated house and whenever I would see a beautiful home, I would wish that it was ours and that I lived in it with my family. I just simply loved beautifully decorated homes. Perhaps my father being an Architect, had influenced and inspired me in some great way. I do remember though, always wondering around in his work area at home, while he was either out working, or taking a nap. The shapes of his technical drawing tools equipments fascinated me. The ruler he used for example to draw straight lines, was what I was most curious about. It was a long ruler compared to the one I used at school and it had another piece at the tip of it making it look like a huge capital ”T”, which was the piece I liked the most. I often loved playing with it and pretended to be an architect just like him, until one day I somehow managed to break it and was never allowed to play with it again. So, I guess it’s true when they say that every journey begins with an aspiration and I suppose this was mine. Hence, there-onwards, creativity continued to inspire me and in turn I aspired for it. I was full of passion and desire for art and design, which has in some incredible way become my life, as my obsession and love for design just keeps growing and growing. Thus, in the summer of 2004, the initiative to ‘row my boat’ took form. When it came to naming this fledging enterprise, I found inspiration in the nickname of my own –progeny LOMAAR, which is the Latin word for ‘The Sea’. It somehow described everything that the firm stood for. Like the sea that knows no bounds, Lomaar Design too, does not flow towards any particular horizon, but keeps redefining them. In a nutshell, at Lomaar design we are the image-makers, (all that the brand/personality stands for). For me, every design inspiration begins with a theme around which I build a story and then provide a harmonious rhythm to achieve the perfect symphony. And in the process, we match every minute detail to the overall image, with a strong emphasis on functionality. The beauty and tranquility of your space has a profound and significant effect on your every day state of mind and your feelings. Feelings of happiness, calmness and relaxing are all some of the most important effects your space should have on you in-order for you to feel that total as we all know, “Home Sweet Home.”
And this is where I come in. After having creatively realized many of my clients visions for their homes, rooms, offices, shops, garden, terraces, etc…… I would now love to share with all of you out there my experiences and most of all to ensure that no matter what your budget or regardless of your current financial condition, that you too can create your dream home, room, office, shop or even perhaps some day, “Your own Palace! ” Nice thought no? Now, hold on to that thought!!!!!!!
