Vacancy Announcement: TRAVEL AGENT
Blue Star Travel & Tours was established to provide a total travel solution to travelers traveling by air/land international y and internal y in Afghanistan. We believe in performance and profiting less in business as we can get more business from our clients in the long run if we could make them our permanent for their future travel needs based on our quality services, quick response and comparatively reasonable costs BST is not only a source of income for its owner/staff but it is a way they can be proud of being different, better, reliable and special travel agent providing services to travelers from Government institutes, NGOs and private sector.
In seeking to achieve this objective, Blue Star Travel & Tours intends to strengthen its capacity to deliver by, among others, the implementation of its organizational structure and the filling of all vacant posts.
The Travel Agency of Blue Star Travel & Tours invites applicants who are citizens of Member States for the position of Travel Agent in the Department of Administration and Human Resource Development.
1. Job Title: Travel Officer
2. NUMBER OF VACANT POSTS: 2
3. DUTY STATION: Kabul
Under the direct supervision of the CEO and CFO incumbent shall plan, organize and direct the function of Travel management and administration.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
a. Make bookings with the various Airlines for all Clients to be sent or tickets to be purchased;
b. Obtain quotations from the airlines to enable Clients to be processed or tickets purchased;
c. Keep track of all Clients sent and handle matters of booking reconfirmations for the Blue Star Travel & Tours;
d. Process renewal and refund applications for uncollected Clients or unused tickets;
e. Negotiate group fares from airlines where such fares shall be beneficial to the Travel Agency;
f. Process travel entitlements of staff going on Home Leave, Transfer or Separation from the services of the Blue Star Travel & Tours;
g. Check the accuracy of information on ticket requests and purchase orders;
h. Initiate correspondences addressed to Airlines, Travel Agencies etc on issues related to Travel;
i. Blue Star Travel & Tours theorize issuance of tickets/Clients on emergency basis especially for travel that has to be arranged after official working hours;
j. Produce and submit periodic and annual reports on Travel;
k. Evaluate the annual performance of Airlines and Travel Agencies in the Blue Star Travel & Tours premises;
l. Initiate policies aimed at improving the management of Travel within the Blue Star Travel & Tours;
m. Review existing contracts with Airlines and propose solutions to address problems arising from the agreements;
n. Perform any other relevant duty/ responsibility assigned by the Head of Procurement and Travel unit.
6. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
A minimum of a University Degree in Procurement, Law, Commerce, Finance/ Accounting and/ or equivalent relevant professional qualification from a recognized institution.
A minimum of 5 years relevant practical experience in the field of Travel preferably with an Airline or Travel Agency.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent Knowledge of the workings of international organizations
Capacity to work under pressure in a multicultural environment
Computer knowledge with MS Office, Galileo and other travel program
Good analytical skills
Excellent drafting and report writing skills
Good planning and organizational skills
Good knowledge of airline ticketing systems
