Carrack Jones, the fourteen-year-old sailor from Antigua and Barbuda may have just set a new world record. The competitive sailor, left Antigua on Wednesday in an Optimist sailboat, a small single-handed dinghy measuring just over 7 feet long. His destination: St. Maarten, a challenging journey spanning 100 nautical miles.

While the record is yet to be officially verified, it appears that Jones might be the newest record holder for the longest distance sailed in an Optimist boat. The ambitious teenager had hoped to reach St. Maarten by 5 pm on Thursday, but his arrival was delayed until just before midnight, spending a second night on the waves.

The record's verification now rests in the hands of yacht clubs on both ends of the journey, who will scrutinize the details of this feat.
