🥰 Technically, the Armenian word for “thank you” is shnorakalutsyun. Instead of using this long word, many Armenian-speakers will use the French merci, along with the term of endearment, jan.

🇦🇲 Ceramic techniques are taken from age-old traditions of ceramics first appearing in Armenia as pottery more than 6000 years ago. Decorated ceramic ware can be traced to the Arshakuni (4th c BCE-1st c) and Bagratuni eras (7th-11th cc), the latter when fine china was imported into the area from China and Mongolia using the Silk Road.

We have visited The Symphony of Stones, which is a natural monument located in the basin of the Azat River, in the area of Garni village. It is said that this natural monument is the result of the collapse of the volcanic rocks.

🏞After that we have visited the lake of Sevan surrounded by picturesque mountains.

🏞 There are a lot of beautiful but “hidden” places in Armenia , and Parz Lake is one of them. It’s surrounded by an incredible beautiful forest and mountains. It is situated in Tavush province.

🌄 Tavush is rich with its Churches. And one of them is the Haghartsin monastery.

😍 There is a beautiful legend about the origin of the name of the monastery. According to it an eagle flew around the dome of the main church during the opening ceremony of the monastery, and that was the reason for calling the sanctuary the monastery of playing (or flying) eagle – Haghartsin “hagh” means a game while “Artsin” a form of “Artsiv” means eagle in Armenian).

SEVAN
🌊Lake Sevan is the largest lake in the Transcaucasus. The blue lake water is embedded in the mountains like gems. The two quaint monasteries located on the mountainside are quietly guarding the lake.

🏝Sevan Island in the northwestern part of the lake used to be an island and during the Stalin-era, the lake was drained a bit, creating a peninsula out of the former island.

⛪️Sevanavank monastery is located on the peninsula of Sevan Lake. The first church of the monastery was built by Gregory the Illuminator in 305. Today, Sevanavank is one of the most recognized historical and cultural sites of Armenia.

TATEV

🗻Tatev is a small village in the Syunik Province.

5 DISHES you must try in Armenia 🤩

🥖LAVASH(bread)
There’s a whole art of making this famous flatbread. Traditionally, only women prepare and make it in a clay oven (a tonir/tandoor), and it requires great skill.

🧆DOLMA
It is stuffed vegetable dish wrapped in cabbage or grapes leaves. The filling can be rice, minced meat and other spices. You can try it at Dolmama restaurant in Yerevan

🍗🍖KHOROVATS(BBQ)
Khorovats is a barbequed Armenian meat. The meat was marinated before grilling. Khorovats can be made with lamb, pork, chicken, beef, veal or even vegetables 😜

🎃GHAPAMA
Ghapama is a made from pumpkin which is stuffed and baked, and can be eaten as a main dish or as a dessert. Ghapama's core contains rice and dried apricots, nuts, honey and cinnamon.

🍵HARISSA
Harissa is one of the traditional Armenian dishes which has been passed on since ancient times. It is a kind of porridge, which is made of b***d and stewed chicken and cracked or coarsely ground wheat. Traditionally it was made with lamb, but nowadays the majority makes it with chicken.

Sanahin and Haghpat monasteries date back to 10th century. These monasteries are included in the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage.

GYUMRI

🌆Gyumri is the second-largest city in Armenia
The best time to visit Gyumri is summer and spring. If you don’t mind the cold, it’s quite beautiful during autumn as well.

♥️ In the heart of Gyumri, Vartanants Square is a beautiful place surrounded by Soviet and historical buildings, fountains, and churches.

🤩 The main thing that you should know about Tsaghkadzor is that is one of the most famous health resorts in all of Armenia. (Jermuk is the first one, about that later)

💨 By the way, it’s the very place where Armenians used to spend winter holidays, as area is full of snow in winter.
