👉On the way from Sevan to Yerevan, you can stop to enjoy the view of one of the most beautiful natural sights of Armenia: the Selim Pass. This pass was once the part of the famous Silk Road that linked Europe with the Far East. The ancient caravanserai (a resting place for merchants on the Silk Road) still stands till this day. The view of the verdant valley below is simply breathtaking.

Artavazik Church (7th century) is located in the gorge, not far from Byurakan village. The building has a cross-dome construction, it was made of red and black local tufa stone. An elegant bell tower was added above the western entrance of the church in the 13th century. The door and window openings, as well as the corner parts of the church, are laid out smoothly with hewn stone, and the stone for the walls has been processed more roughly. Unfortunately, the church was almost completely destroyed by flood in 1840. Only the ruins of a once majestic building have survived to this day.

Kaptavank is one of the most prominent monuments of medieval Armenia. It is situated 5 km to the south-west from Chinchin village in Tavush Province. It was built in the middle of the XII century. It was mentioned as St. Astvatsatsin in the records. Kaptavank was a monastery complex in the past, but only the church survived. The church is built limestone of bluish tint. The monastery was once fenced and surrounded with an old settlement. An ancient cemetery lies on the east part of the church.

🙂🙂The monument “We are our Mountains”, located at the entrance to Stepanakert is one of the main and recognizable symbols and attractions of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). The monument was erected in 1967, the authorship belongs to the sculptor Sargis Baghdasaryan. The image of the monument is presented on the coat of arms of the Republic of Artsakh, and among Armenians it is called gently “grandmother and grandfather” (in Armenian “tatik-papik”).🙂🙂

🙂🙂Carpet weaving is a traditional craft, which is widespread in all Armenian regions. It is so hard to imagine an Armenian traditional home without national carpets. Since ancient times, they have been considered necessary household items for everyday life. People laid carpets on the floors, chests, seats; they also served as a profitable commodity exported and sold abroad.🇦🇲🇦🇲
Due to the archeological excavations it was proved that the carpet weaving in Armenia had appeared in II – I millennium BC. It is also interesting that the ancient technique, design, and colors are very similar to those used in our days.🙂🙂

🙂🙂Bjni Fortress is an Armenian medieval fortress situated in Bjni village in Armenia’s Kotayk Province. The fortification walls can only be seen from the village’s west side. Bjni Fortress is 1,504 meters above sea level (4,934 ft). The Bjni fortress was constructed between the 9th and 10th centuries by the Bagratuni dynasty’s royal Pahlavuni family.🙂🙂
