This week I have made it a habit to drink my morning tea in the garden and bring my camera to finally capture the many hummingbirds living in my garden.

They are especially active in the morning right after sunrise.
They are called hummingbirds because of the sound their wings make when flying. Their wings beat incredibly fast, 50 to 80 times per second. They can hover mid air and are the only bird that can fly backwards.

However, this doesn’t mean they are easy to shoot. They are tiny little birds that move incredibly fast. Hummingbirds are the smallest birds on the 🌎. These are around 6-8 cm in length. Because of their high energy lifestyle they need to eat a lot of sugar 🍰🍭🍫.

Daily they need to eat more than their own body weight in nectar. They hover in front of a flower and scoop up the nectar with their long and specially adapted tongue (photo 2) We have a few Raspa plants which the hummingbirds love 🤍.

I work 6 days a week and my ‘weekend’ is always on MONDAY!!!
We had a great freediving sesh today!

Water temp was lovely 30C*☀️
My max depth was 38m (constant weight), what is the deepest I’ve been since 3 years🤩
And I always ending me session with a fun ‘no fun’ dive 💙🐢

Thanks to my buddy for the motivation! ‘Relax and enjoy the thermocline, just think about your warm tea’ (btw… thermocline was only 28C*) 🤪
Fun fact: I always bring a bottle with hot water with me when freediving, it’s my diving tea 🫖 and comfort drink 🩵

Officially a WAVE 3 freediver!🩵💦🐟

Last week I crossed over from AIDA 4 to .

I really liked the Molchanovs materials, it was great to revise the basics again after 3 years, and learned some interesting new stuff.

But most important… it includes my favorite discipline: no fins!!! 🤩

Thanks

We have had a great week at the BonAbyss 2023 😎

The event, organized by Freediving Center from March 24th to 28th, was a massive success, with multiple worlds and national records broken. 🏅🏅🏅🏅

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly
incredible display of human endurance and determination. On Saturday, March 25th, he broke the Variable Weight descending to a depth of -153 meters. Just two days later, on Tuesday, March 28th, he surpassed his record, diving to
an even more impressive depth of -156 meters. 😲

Other freediving athletes also achieved notable results during the event.

set a new Variable Weight (VWT) National
Record for the Netherlands 🇳🇱with a dive of -93 meters.

set a new VWT National Record for the USA 🇺🇸with a dive of -52
meters.

🧜‍♀️ from Slovakia 🇸🇮accomplished her first
competitive experience ever, setting a new VWT National Record for her country by diving to a depth of -43 meters.

Well done champions and a big applause to the for hosting such a great event. 👏

I tried something new today ... Watersking....

I am fairly comfortable on the board but waterskis are different!

Thanks to the JOBE waterski trainers and the smart tow system on our Axopar Revolve boat, I was able to take the stabilisation bar off and get up almost straight away.

~ Clean Boating ~

Since the 1st of June 2022 has put a ban on selling and providing of disposable plastic like straws, plastic cups, bags etc.
A really great and necessary step to a cleaner ocean.

Single use plastic often doesn’t get properly recycled but ends up in the sea. We always put in effort to pickup any plastic floating near our boat.

and are making this super easy with this new product:
a telescopic and foldable scoop-net and a garbage bag made of recycled material from paddle boards. ♻️

We always make sure we don’t bring any single use plastic on the water. We prepare the snacks in reusable containers. And bring insulated aluminium cups for drinks.

Thank you Jobe Watersports & Clean Boating for working towards a cleaner sea. We are proud and more than happy to contribute.
