Let's go BLUE! Bonaire as a first blue destination! Bonaire will be even more beautiful from inside and outside!

Het eerste Caribische eiland met een Marine Park, natuurbescherming als hoeksteen van toeristisch beleid: Bonaire is hard op weg om de eerste ‘Blue Destination’ te worden. Een nieuw publiek-privaat samenwerkingsprogramma helpt om dat doel samen te bereiken. Is er een mooiere dag denkbaar dan Wereld Oceaan Dag om dit nieuwe programma te lanceren?

De komende maanden staan er op Bonaire verschillende meetings, evenementen en congressen gepland, waarin de ‘Blue Destination’ elke keer centraal staat. Er zal een landelijke campagne gestart worden, genaamd 'What is Blue to You?' Deze campagne dient als promotie-instrument om de lokale bevolking te betrekken bij de inspanningen van het eiland op het gebied van natuurbehoud en marketing.

Dé plek in de Cariben is het koraalrif rond Bonaire. De onderwaterwereld met koraalformaties, spelonken en een enorme rijkdom aan vissen in alle kleuren en maten is bijzonder fascinerend.

Today Samur crew and BDS staff went out to remove as much as possible sargassum seaweed at the Bonaire mangrove area.
The last couple days the seaweed is washed up into the precious mangroven.
Important to remove as much as possible since the seaweed will cover mangrove roots, seagrass (food for turtles) and marine life will get in danger because of that. Sadly enough already many creatures got stucked and died in the Sargassum.

Zeilen en snorkelen op Klein Bonaire

Zeilen aan boord van een oude Thaise junk om te gaan snorkelen was een unieke verrassing! Klein Bonaire biedt prachtige stranden, reef muren en natuurlijk een veelvoud van vissen te zien. Geweldig voor beginnende en ervaren snorkelaars alike. De bemanning was vriendelijk en informatief. Ze lieten zelfs mijn vriend sturen de boot als we gingen terug naar de haven!

Cruise excursion
What a great day. We chose this last minute and we were very happy we did. Captain Chris and crew were awesome. Great snorkeling location and even better stories. Highly recommend.

Fun time, great snorkeling!

This trip was really fun. My 76 year old sister had never snorkelled before. There was no age limit posted on this trip as there was on other trips. We were taken by small zodiac to the ship. We then were taken to a marine sanctuary for beach and snorkel time. The snorkeling, beach and crystal clear water was amazing! My sister snorkelled the entire time and loved it! The crew were very fun and helpful. The history of the Samur is very interesting. We plan to go again next time we go to Bonaire.

They are kind and charming”
I joined in with a trip from the small cruise ship we were on. I was really looking forward to the snorkelling, but the cruise company decided that we must be treated like children and we were restricted to a small area. The people on Samur junk made up for it! What lovely people, with humour and smiles in abundance. Go on one of their trips because they make it as special as they can. To be fair, Bonaire is amazing in any case!
