This stunning beach, with its white sands and eroded sandstone cliffs forming picturesque caves, looks like it's straight out of a postcard.
Cupecoy is clothing-optional, so you decide what to wear. Wave conditions vary by season, ranging from calm waters perfect for snorkeling to waves fit for surfing, which also affects the beach's size.
The cliffs provide excellent shade, making it ideal for relaxing with a good book and a cold drink. Bring your own chairs and cooler, as there are no vendors on the left side of the beach. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and perhaps get a bit of sun in areas typically covered by swimwear.

Owner Zdenka Kiric has been a pillar of the arts and crafts scene in Sint Maarten for over 20 years. Fleeing war-torn Croatia in 1989, she and her husband sailed across the Atlantic. However, Hurricane Luis destroyed their boat shortly after arriving in Sint Maarten in 1995. With only $80 and some cans of tuna, Zdenka began crafting and selling wire art on the Philipsburg pier.
Her success led her to create a tableware collection adorned with wire and beads, which gained popularity across the Caribbean. Eventually, she transitioned to fine metals, crafting island-style jewelry with gemstones, pearls, gold, and silver, leading to the birth of her brand, “Zdenka West Indies.”
Recognizing the wealth of local talent, Zdenka opened The Art Box Gallery SXM in Cole Bay, showcasing works from over 30 Caribbean artists. The gallery features original paintings, antique maps, sculptures, ceramics, hand-painted textiles, basketry, and her own exquisite jewelry. Located just across the street from Simpson Bay Marina, Zdenka’s shop is a treasure trove of artistic marvels. The Art Box Gallery proudly displays pieces from established, internationally recognized artists and emerging young talents alike.

Loterie Farm created a nice 1 hour hiking trail throughout the tropical forest. Hike through the ruins of the ancient sugar plantation, alongside the natural spring, amazing viewpoints, and back down.
Or take a left turn at the first top for the longer hike (2 hours) into the windswept heights of Pic Paradis. Find the remains of an old well on your way to St. Martin’s highest point 424m, awarding some of the best views on the island with 2 separate viewpoints allowing you to see almost every corner of SXM. Note: the way back is the same as how you came.
To enter the hiking trails, you pay a small entry fee of $10, which is used to maintain the paths.
