➡ The Recoleta Cemetery is located in the exclusive Recoleta neighborhood and considered the third in importance in the world.
It is one of the most visited attractions in the city, due to its large number of mausoleums and vaults, many of them belonging to the main protagonists of Argentine history, such as Eva Perón (Evita) whose tomb is the busiest of all.
Many of these vaults and mausoleums are artworks created by important architects, decorated with marble and sculptures; more than 90 vaults have been designated as National Historic Monuments.
The Recoleta cemetery was built in 1822 as the first public cemetery in the city and its layout was designed by the French engineer Próspero Catelin.
Among the personalities buried there, we can find political leaders, presidents, well known writers, Nobel Prize winners, athletes and businessmen.

➡ El Cementerio de la Recoleta está ubicado en el exclusivo barrio de la Recoleta y es considerado el tercer cementerio en importancia del mundo.
Es además una de las atracciones principales de la ciudad, por su gran número de mausoleos y bóvedas pertenecientes a muchos de los principales protagonistas de la historia argentina, como la de Eva Perón (Evita), una de las tumbas más concurridas.
Muchas de estas bóvedas y mausoleos son obra de importantes arquitectos y están decorados con mármoles y esculturas; más de 90 bóvedas han sido declaradas Monumento Histórico Nacional.
Fue construido en 1822 como primer cementerio público de la ciudad y su trazado es obra del ingeniero francés Próspero Catelin.
Entre las personalidades enterradas en el Cementerio de la Recoleta figuran líderes políticos, presidentes de la Nación, escritores, Premios Nobel, deportistas y empresarios.

🚣🏻‍♀️🚣🏻‍♂️ Paddling in the River Delta (Tigre) Tour includes a visit to Tigre and its surroundings outside Buenos Aires City.
Tigre neighborhood is situated in the Delta of Parana River, formed by the confluence of the Paraná and the Uruguay rivers, just 30 km from Buenos Aires and considered one of the largest deltas in the World. On your way, enjoy sightseeing of the Northern districts of the city, the famous Rio de la Plata, and make a stop in San Isidro, a former colonial town where the wealthiest porteños used to have their weekend homes.
Once in Tigre, adventure will start. Paddle for around two hours, in stable Canadian canoes, along the different rivers that form this delta, through narrow channels of lush vegetation, to see these secret natural gardens and the daily life of islanders in their picturesque homes, built on palafitos. Stop for lunch or a typical Argentinian picada (at your choice) at some nice spot in the islands and return to town.

🌳 Martínez neighborhood is located in San Isidro district, 22 kilometers North of Buenos Aires City.
One of the most attractive spots is the coast of the “Río de la Plata”, a place to enjoy nature in public spaces, walk by the old “fishermans pier of Pacheco" (built in 1930 with a privileged view of the City of Buenos Aires and the River Plate) practice water sports and enjoy excellent gastronomic options.
It is a highly recommended stroll!

🌳 Martínez es una localidad situada en el partido de San Isidro (zona norte del Gran Buenos Aires, a 22 kilómetros de la ciudad.
Uno de los puntos de mayor interés es su costa sobre el Río de la Plata donde se puede disfrutar de la naturaleza y el aire libre en los espacios públicos a orillas del río, caminar por el antiguo muelle de pescadores de Pacheco (construido en 1930 y desde donde se puede ver y disfrutar de una vista privilegiada de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires y del Río de la Plata), practicar deportes náuticos y disfrutar de una excelente gastronomía.
Es un paseo muy recomendable!

Este verano se cumplieron 20 años desde que me inicié como guía de turismo. En ese entonces ya había publicado algunos libros y me dedicaba casi exclusivamente a la literatura. Desde entonces alterno mi escritura con el trabajo de guía. Como dije alguna vez en mi cuenta personal de IG, “es un trabajo que disfruto, que me conecta con el mundo de otra manera, me saca de la silla de escritorio y me lanza a la calle, a viajar a través de la gente y sus historias, y a redescubrir mi entorno, ese espacio conocido que es Buenos Aires, con los ojos de quienes la ven por primera vez”.
Y en ese camino sigo, ¡gracias por acompañarme! 💜

Last summer it was 20 years since I started as a tour guide. At that time I had already published some books and dedicated myself almost exclusively to my writings. Since then I´ve alternated my profession as a writer and journalist with my role as a guide. This is a job I enjoy, that connects me with the world in a different way, it takes me out of my desk chair and throws me out into the street, to travel through people and their stories, and to rediscover my surroundings, those well-known places in my native town, Buenos Aires, through the eyes of those who see it for the first time”.

🐴🌳 Tour Día de campo en el corazón de las Pampas
Viajá al tradicional pueblo de San Antonio de Areco, (a sólo una hora y cuarto de la capital) conocido no sólo por sus tranquilas calles y hermosas casas coloniales sino por ser la cuna de la tradición y un sitio de orfebrería por excelencia. Visitá el taller de Chavo Stagnaro, uno de sus más reconocidos orfebres, conocé su casa y su trabajo en plena acción. Luego, pasá el día en una hermosa estancia histórica pero aún activa, cercana al pueblo, donde disfrutaras de un sabroso asado de campo, show de danza y música folklórica en vivo, demostración de doma india, cabalgatas, paseos en sulky o bici, caminatas, y si el clima lo permite, podrás nadar en la piscina en medio de la naturaleza. Al atardecer, luego del mate y los tradicionales “pastelitos”, regresamos a la ciudad.

🐴🌳 A day in the Pampas Tour
Start your day driving North to the traditional town of San Antonio de Areco (just one hour and a half away from the city), well-known for its quiet streets and beautiful colonial houses but also for being the most important center of silverwork in the country. Visit Chavo Stagnaro´s workshop, one of the most famous silversmiths in town, who will show you his house and his work. Then, spend a relaxing full day at a beautiful, historical but yet active ranch nearby, where you will enjoy a tasty “asado” (barbecue), horseback riding, sulky (carriage) rides, intimate folk shows with live music and dancers, demonstrations of “Doma india” (traditional Argentine horse whispering) or “tropilla” (herd of horses), hiking, cycling and bird watching, or swimming, if the weather allows you. In the afternoon, after drinking some “mate” with traditional “pastelitos” (typical pastry of Argentina) we return downtown.

🏡 San Isidro es uno de los barrios más pintorescos de la zona norte del Gran Buenos Aires. Es conocido por sus calles adoquinadas, sus casas de estilo colonial y su pronunciada barranca que da origen a lo que conocemos como El Bajo de San Isidro desde donde se llega a las orillas del legendario río de la Plata; zona de restaurantes y clubes de deportes náuticos con hermosas vistas.
El casco histórico incluye la Catedral, la Quinta Los Ombúes (Museo, Biblioteca y Archivo Histórico Municipal) y el Museo Brigadier General Juan Martín de Pueyrredon. El núcleo de ese casco es la plaza Mitre. Frente a la plaza se encuentra la manzana más antigua, donde se ubican la sede del gobierno municipal, el Concejo Deliberante, el chalet Las Brisas (contemporáneo de la Catedral), y la casa del primer presidente municipal Fernando Alfaro Maciel, hoy museo. Linda también con la plaza la Catedral de San Isidro.
La visita a San Isidro forma parte del Tour Colonial y Aristocrático.

🏡 San Isidro is one of the most picturesque neighborhoods of the Northern outskirts of Buenos Aires city. It's known for its cobbled streets, its colonial-style houses and its pronounced ravine that gives rise to what we know as “El Bajo de San Isidro” (San Isidro lowlands), where you reach the shores of the legendary Río de la Plata; area of restaurants and water sports clubs with beautiful views.
The historic center includes the Cathedral, the “Quinta Los Ombúes" (Municipal Museum, Library and Historical Archive) and the Brigadier General Juan Martín de Pueyrredon Museum. Opposite the main square(called Plaza Mitre) you will find the oldest houses, the townhall, and some other important public buildings such as “Las Brisas chalet” (contemporary of the Cathedral) and the house of the first major Fernando Alfaro Maciel which was turned into a museum. The Main Cathedral also borders the square.
The visit to San Isidro is part of the Colonial and Aristocratic Tour.

🎨 In the corner where El Salvador and Ravignani streets meet, in Palermo, we can find a mural that pays tribute to Eugenia Sacerdote de Lustig, Italian scientist (from Turin), residing in Argentina since the age of 29.
She was a doctor who dedicated her life to researching illnesses, and helped implement the polio vaccine in Argentina.
She was 101 when she died in Buenos Aires.

🎨 En la esquina de El Salvador y Ravignani, en Palermo, se puede ver el mural que le rinde homenaje a Eugenia Sacerdote de Lustig, científica de origen italiano (Turín) radicada en Argentina.
Médica, se dedicó a la investigación y contribuyó a la implementación de la vacuna contra la poliomielitis, entre tantas investigaciones que realizó durante su vida.
Murió a los 101 años en Buenos Aires.

Today is a very special and sad day for Argentina. Today is Momorial Day for the Truth and Justice. During this day we honor the victims of the last military dictatorship (1976-1983).
These sites are part of the Never Again Tour: This tour will give you some clues about the genocide that devastated the country during the 1970s, taking the lives of close to 30,000 people. To get on topic, we will stop by some of its most significant landmarks: Plaza de Mayo (May Square), political hub of the country and the place of reunion of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo (mothers of the “desaparecidos”; El Atlético, an archeological site of a nearby detentions center; the ex ESMA, formerly the biggest detention center today transformed into the Museum of Memory, a space that invites to ponder on State terrorism and the struggle for democracy. Finally, the “Parque de la Memoria”, an extensive green space of 14 hectares by the Río de la Plata river, where art and nature merge to become a place of remembrance, homage, testimony and reflection.

Hoy es un día especial y triste para la Argentina. Es el día de la Memoria por la Verdad y la Justicia. Hoy conmemoramos a las víctimas de la última dictadura militar (1976-1983).

🍻 With , at the British Bar, an emblematic café of Buenos Aires. With this post, I inaugurate the series "my favorite cafés" and I chose it to start for a personal reason. I lived in the same building of the bar for years when it used to open 24 hours, so this place welcomed me on my sleepless nights and was also my meeting place with friends.
But beyond my love for this café, this is definitely a mystic and historical spot. It was founded in 1929 as the grocery store "La Cosechera" which was visited by Englishmen who lived in the area, ex-combatants of the First World War. For this reason the name was changed to British Bar. But, how could it be otherwise, during the Malvinas War, it was temporarily renamed "El Tánico". It was the favorite bar for many famous Argentine writers and several movies were filmed there, such as “Motorcycle diaries; the movie about the first long trip that Che Guevara made through Latin America, changing his life forever.
So, before the summer ends, be sure to enjoy a cold beer in this typical corner of San Telmo!

🍻 Con en el Bar Británico, emblemático café de Buenos Aires. Con este posteo, inauguro la serie “mis cafés favoritos” y si empiezo por acá es por un motivo personal. En el mismo edificio del bar viví durante años en la época en que abría las 24 horas; este sitio me acogía en mis noches de insomnio y era también mi lugar de encuentro con amigos.
Pero más allá de lo personal, es definitivamente, un bar con mística e historia. Se fundó en 1929 como la pulpería “La cosechera” a la que acudían ingleses que vivían por la zona, ex combatientes de la primera guerra mundial. Por esta razón se le cambió el nombre a Bar Británico. Y como no podía ser de otra manera, durante la Guerra de Malvinas, pasó a llamarse temporalmente “El Tánico”. Era el bar favorito de famosos escritores argentinos y en él se filmaron varias películas como “Darios de Motocicletas”, que cuenta aquel viaje épico del Che Guevara por Latinoamérica, que cambió su vida para siempre.
Antes de que el verano termine, ¡no dejes de tomarte una cerveza helada en este rincón típico de San Telmo!

The Monument to Eva Perón in the city of Buenos Aires, inaugurated in December 1999, is located on Avenida del Libertador between the streets Agüero and Austria, on the premises of the National Library.
It is a stone structure almost 20 meters high made by the artist Ricardo Gianetti with granite for the pedestal and bronze for the sculpture itself, which represents Eva Perón, in an advancing attitude. On the base of the sculpture it reads: "She knew how to dignify women, protect the children and care for the elderly, renouncing honors". "She wanted to be simply Evita forever, eternal in the soul of our people, for improving the human condition of humble and hardworking and fighting for social justice".
Visiting this monument is part of the “Life and Times of Evita” tour.

El Monumento a Eva Perón en la ciudad de Buenos Aires se encuentra en la plaza ubicada en Avenida del Libertador entre Agüero y Austria, en el predio de la Biblioteca Nacional.
Fue inaugurado en diciembre de 1999.
Es una estructura de piedra de casi 20 metros de alto realizada por el artista Ricardo Gianetti con granito para el pedestal y bronce para la propia escultura, que representa a Eva Perón,en actitud de avance. Sobre la base de la escultura se lee: “Supo dignificar a la mujer, dar protección a la infancia y amparar la ancianidad, renunciando a los honores". "Quiso para siempre ser simplemente Evita, eterna en el alma de nuestro pueblo, por mejorar la condición humana de humildes y trabajadores, luchando por la justicia social".
Este monumento forma parte del Tour Vida y Época de Evita.

At the corner of Arroyo and Suipacha streets there is a memorial space where the former Israeli Embassy was placed before it was destroyed.
On March 17, 1992, at 2:47 pm, a car bomb blew up the building of the Israeli diplomatic headquarters. After the blast, the entire building collapsed like a sandcastle.
Today there is an empty space that reminds us of what happened and the lives that were lost.
Part of the original wall of the embassy has been preserved; the names of the victims are on display on a plaque and two rows of lime trees have been planted, each one symbolizing one of the victims. This Memory Square was inaugurated on March 17, 2000.

En la esquina de Arroyo y Suipacha se encuentra el espacio que ocupaba la Embajada de Israel.
El 17 de marzo de 1992 a las 14.47 un coche bomba voló el edificio de la sede diplomática israelí. Después del estallido, el edificio entero se derrumbó como un castillo de arena.
Hoy hay un espacio vacío que nos recuerda lo que sucedió y las vidas que se perdieron.
Allí se ha preservado una parte del muro original de la embajada; los nombres de los fallecidos han sido colocados en una placa y se plantaron dos líneas de tilos, cada uno de ellos simbolizando las víctimas fallecidas. Esta plaza fue inaugurada el 17 de marzo de 2000.

🌳 There is no traveler who resists the temptation of making a stop for a picture with the Atlas, this fantastic sculpture by the Uruguayan artist Joquin Arbiza Brianza, which supports the gigantic branches of the oldest tree in the city.
With Fran Tate, from New Zealand, we weren't the exception; there you can see us, helping the Titan on his duty, after a nice walk through Recoleta and surroundings.

🌳 No hay viajero que resista la tentación de sacarse una foto con el Atlas, esta fantástica escultura del artista uruguayo Joquin Arbiza Brianza, que sostiene las gigantescos ramas del árbol más antiguo de la ciudad.
Con Fran Tate, de Nueva Zelanda no fuimos la excepción; ahí estamos, posando junto al titán, después de una linda caminata por Recoleta y alrededores.

Then, spend a relaxing full day at a beautiful, historical but yet active ranch nearby, where you will enjoy a tasty “asado” (barbecue), horseback riding, sulky (carriage) rides, intimate folk shows with live music and dancers, demonstrations of “Doma india” (traditional Argentine horse whispering) or “tropilla” (herd of horses), hiking, cycling and bird watching, or swimming, if the weather allows you. In the afternoon, after drinking some “mate” with traditional “pastelitos” (typical pastry of Argentina) we return downtown.

Visita al colonial pueblo de San Antonio de Areco y taller de orfebrería. Asado y actividades al aire libre en una exclusiva estancia de la zona.
Viajá al tradicional pueblo de San Antonio de Areco, (a sólo una hora y cuarto de la capital) conocido no sólo por sus tranquilas calles y hermosas casas coloniales sino por ser la cuna de la tradición y un sitio de orfebrería por excelencia. Visitá el taller de Chavo Stagnaro, uno de sus más reconocidos orfebres, conocé su casa y su trabajo en plena acción. Luego, pasá el día en una hermosa estancia histórica pero aún activa, cercana al pueblo, donde disfrutaras de un sabroso asado de campo, show de danza y música folklórica en vivo, demostración de doma india, cabalgatas, paseos en sulky o bici, caminatas, y si el clima lo permite, podrás nadar en la piscina en medio de la naturaleza. Al atardecer, luego del mate y los tradicionales “pastelitos”, regresamos a la ciudad.
