Volcano Calbuco erupted yesterday evening just across the border from Bariloche, sending a light dusting of volcanic ash to our southern home today....so far. People are tense across Patagonia, with memories of Puyehue's eruption 3 years ago - and all the destruction it brought - still fresh.

"El Chalten was absolutely amazing. We had three days of nearly perfect weather and beautiful trekking. I loved being able to roll out of bed and onto a trail- it's an amazing place." Jacquie and her dad lucked into some amazing weather and got to soak in views of Cerro Torre and FitzRoy.
