⁉ FAQ about our REAL GAUCHO DAY ⁉

What do we do on our Real Gaucho Day?

Usually, we depart from Mendoza early in the morning, so we can do a quick stop at Potrerillos Lake, to enjoy the view, before we head to Daniel's house, in Valle del Sol.

At Daniel's, we enjoy some mates and sopaiillas, while preparing the horses for our ride, which takes a few hours to go deep into the mountains, while we get to see the best scenario with mountains, wildlife, and fresh air.

Lunch is on Daniel: an asado made by him in the middle of nowhere, with good wine and some sun bath while we (and the horses) take a well-deserved rest.

Then, time to get back to Daniel's house, and then finally, to the city.

🏔 CERRO DE LOS SIETE COLORES - USPALLATA

▶ After leaving Mendoza by Route 52 we arrive at Villavicencio natural Reserva. Then we climb to Paramillos (3150m/10300 ft) through the famous 365 Curves Route also called Route of the Year. In Paramillos we will see the old mining settlement.

▶ We then descend by Dakar Raceway and contemplate the beauty of the 7 Colors Mountain and a small hike to see hidden gem geological faults.

▶ We take lunch in the charming town of Uspallata. The lunch consists of a traditional kid goat BBQ or fresh trout.

▶ We return to Mendoza by the famous Route 7, where we can stop at the Potrerillos Lake.

PUENTE DEL INCA

▶ Located northwest of the province of Mendoza, Puente del Inca is a natural monument and icon tourist.

▶It is a rock formation that originates from the same natural bridge over the Las Cuevas River, about 48 meters long and suspended 27 meters above the river.

▶In the area there are several open geological faults (cracks in the mountain) through which rainwater and meltwater seep to a great depth.

▶Due to the extreme temperature of the subsoil, they heat up and the pressure returns them to the surface as thermal waters carrying a good concentration of mineral salts and iron oxide. Therefore, everything that covers the water It surrounds it with that characteristic color: orange, ocher, and yellow. Some locals usually leave different everyday objects submerged for several days to petrify them and then sell them as souvenirs at the stalls along the route.

▶In 2005, it was declared a Provincial Natural Monument since the Puente del Inca protected area has rocks over 200 million years old and landslides.

▶The formation of these rocks belongs to 3 periods: Permo Triassic Age, Jurassic Period and Cretaceous Period.

REAL GAUCHO DAY

Just as North Americans have their cowboys, Argentines have their gauchos. Gauchos are national symbols in Argentina, whether it's the real-life horsemen who still exist today, or the folk heroes of epic Argentine poems, like Martín Fierro, whose stories are passed down over generations.

This excursion is a Real Gaucho experience. It involves a visit to Daniel's estancia (ranch) that welcomes visitors with a reception featuring mate and sopaipillas, while Daniel explains everything about the horseback riding we need to know.

Then, it will then be time to do some horseback riding in the mountains. Lunch here is an Argentine asado (mixed grill) paired with some glasses of great wine. Naps are allowed!
