Nestled among Purbach’s historic wine cellars, offers tasty pork & beef ribs along with their famous homemade sauces. We appreciated their friendly waitstaff & generous portions. Eat in the temperate wine cellar on colder days, or enjoy their outdoor seating during warm weather.

At 35 minutes from Streckhof Frauenkirchen, this unique restaurant is worth the drive.

Seebad Breitenbrunn is 15 km from Streckhof Frauenkirchen & has two playgrounds, parking, & toilets open in winter.

Perfect for a picnic of Denis Kebap from Neusiedl in ☀️ 10C weather with friends.

What *is* a Streckhof?

The term refers to a type of farmhouse common in the region around the

The houses typically have a roof pitch of 45 degrees, one to two rooms facing the street, and a large front gate. Behind the street-facing room begins an assembly of rooms or stalls that stretch (🇩🇪 streck) one behind the other, all on a narrow plot of land usually about 10 meters wide.

The consecutive rooms or stalls along the narrow back tract of the house were usually entered from the yard, as there was not typically an internal hallway.

Because a Streckhof shares walls with neighbors on both sides, the yard is enclosed (ie perfect for modern families with kids 🙌🏻).

The previous owner of our house, whose parents were farmers in the 1930’s & 40’s, converted the back tract of stalls into living quarters. We gutted these to make room for a bedroom, narrow hallway, & large kitchen/living area that opens to the garden. Our plot is eleven meters wide from the interior wall to the opposite garden wall.

Fun fact: as a newlywed driving through Pinkafeld’s rows of Streckhöfe I told my husband I’d *never* live in such a house 😄
