'Kia ora' - We are delighted to share that our friend and amateur historian David is presenting his fascinating ‘Kiwis in Torquay’ talk, taking us back to the 40,000 New Zealand soldiers recuperating in St Marychurch and Torquay from the horrors inflicted during WW1. St Marychurch resident kiwi, Tui, was astounded to learn of this incredible link between Torquay and New Zealand where numerous NZ soldiers married Torquinian ladies and returned with them and their little ones back to New Zealand around 1919. Tui felt this historical insight really ought to be shared, especially with New Zealanders and those with a link to this aspect of our shared history. We are thrilled that St Mary's the Virgin, at the top of Fore Street, St Marychurch have kindly offered their stunning church setting for this presentation on Tuesday the 10th September 2pm. All are welcome and it is offered free of charge.
