Una Llama Menos - A rider's journey in Bolivia

"Four friends travel to the Bolivian Andes, looking for a snowboard adventure in the remote
Apolobamba range. But things don’t always go as planned. “Una llama menos” is a story about set
backs, disappointment and tricky conditions, but also about adapting, changing plans, finding
some steep high altitude descents and having the trip of a lifetime!”

Finally the first lines have been drawn. A thin line though... We climbed and rode the Pequeño Alpamayo. Hiking, splitting and climbing up to 5400m. The higher we went, the tougher it got. Once at the summit the snow hadn't softened as we hoped, but we decided to go for it anyway, descending on 50 degree ice. A couple of sketchy moments later we got to the bottom. Wouldn't call it snowboarding, but we did make it down in one piece.

Now we're getting ready for the next mission. Hopefully a little higher and a lot softer...

Four European snowboarders traveled to the highest peaks of untouched Mongolia to meet with like-minded adventurers. Four Mongolian snowboarders did the same. A mix of culture, perspective and knowledge came together during this splitboard expedition in the Altai, the first one in history.

Mongolia take over 8/10: Smoking our meat over horse s**t...

Breakfast, lunch and dinner, every meal in Mongolia consists of meat. But when you're out there for a couple of weeks, it means that you have to preserve it. In our case it meant smoking our meat and since there are no trees out there we had to smoke our meat above a fire of dried horse s**t. Bon Appétit!

Mongolia take over 7/10: Breaking stuff...

Mongolia is as wild as it gets and at moments a bit too wild for our gear. Stuff just kept on breaking. Splitboards, ice axes, ski poles, smartphones, backpacks. There was no more duct tape left at the end of the trip... Pic: Mirtewashere

Who figured that camels and snowboarding would make sense? They're incredibly strong and had no problem at all with carrrying all our gear. So when I got the chance to take a ride, I couldn't resist. I can tell you they're pretty uncomfortable ;)
