Day 2 - Navigated tricky 4WD terrain like champs from Cockatoo Creek to Sam's Creek through the famous Gunshot Gorge. Our ride may have been bumpy, but our spirits were high as we conquered each water crossing with finesse. Fruit Bat and Twin falls were a highlight. Some of us jumped off the falls while others fell, but either way we all ended up in. At Sam’s Crossing we found a hidden paradise just down a bit off track. Water dripping from 8 meter high rock walls into a clear blue pond with a sandy bottom.

Day 1 -Took a dive straight into adventure on the old telegraph track, face-planting into Palm Creek like a pro. Managed to catch some cherabin and bream
for dinner at Cockatoo Creek, where the water was as clear as crystal.

Coen to Bramwell - where the campsite is so stunning, Crystal clear water flowing gently in the creek, Cherabin dancing in the spotlight, and steak with a Cherabin topper sizzling on the open fire - it’s like a gourmet bush feast.

As we gear up to tackle the Old Telegraph Track tomorrow morning, we’ve made the bold decision to leave the tinny behind at Bramwell. Who needs a boat when you’ve got the freedom to roam the Outback in the Rig. It’s like our own version of Survivor: Australian Outback Edition!

And let’s not forget about the unexpected bonding experiences we’ve had so far - like the snake that decided to make Bec’s toilet its temporary home in Lakefield National Park. Personal space? Privacy? Who needs ‘em when you’ve got wildlife encounters like that to bring everyone closer together?

Here’s to more laughs, more adventures, and more unforgettable moments as we continue our journey along the Old Telegraph Track. Stay tuned for the next episode of “Camping Chronicles: Outback Edition” - coming soon to a creek near you!

From Mareeba to migrate via Lakefield National Park. The journey has been wild, with bush fires and wild pigs adding some extra excitement. Coen is our destination for the night, where we'll be camping by the river. Tomorrow, it's on to Archer River.

Alright, here we go! We are all set and packed up like a game of Tetris on steroids, ready to conquer the wild and rugged terrain on our epic journey to the northernmost tip of Australia – Cape York! We’ve got everything crammed in there, whether it actually fits or not. Who needs extra legroom when you’ve got camping gear, snacks, and a sense of adventure, right?

Our first pit stop is at Harvey Range, where we’ll be picking up Dan’s nephew Jay, who’s joining our crew. Let’s hope he packed light because our car is like a jigsaw puzzle with no missing pieces left.

Stay tuned for more updates from our wild and wacky Cape York expedition.

Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime as we set off on a three-week expedition to the tip of Australia via the legendary Old Telegraph Track!
With our complete lack of bookings, a non-existent plan, and a Cruiser that may or may not resemble a Tetris game gone wrong, we're basically living on the edge (and hoping our luggage doesn't fly off the roof!).

Departing from Airlie Beach on June 8th, we're like modern-day pioneers, blazing a trail into the unknown - or at least, into the land of questionable decisions.

Follow our hilarious misadventures, questionable road trip snacks, and inevitable bloopers on our Dust & Dirt Page on Facebook and Instagram. Who knows what kind of shenanigans we'll get into, but hey, at least it'll make for a good story!
Hold onto your hats (and your sense of humor) - it's gonna be a bumpy ride! 🌿🚙💨
