Tastes like: an Aussie icon. 🇦🇺 On this day in 1893, the man who invented our MITEY spread, Dr. Cyril P Callister was born. If it wasn't for Cyril, the story of VEGEMITE might not exist.

In October this year, we'll be celebrating our 99th birthday, can you believe it has almost been 99 years since VEGEMITE graced our supermarket shelves?! Tag a mate who couldn't live without VEGEMITE to show your appreciation for our Aussie icons!

If you're interested in learning more about Cyril Callister and VEGEMITE, the Cyril Callister Foundation Inc. hosts a pop up museum in Beaufort on the 4th Saturday of the month. For more information, head over to www.cyrilcallisterfoundation.org

The man behind the Aussie icon that is VEGEMITE will be honoured at a pop-up museum in Beaufort this year.

Cyril Callister was born in Chute (just outside of Beaufort) in 1893 and later studied at Ballarat's Grenville College and the Ballarat School of Mines (now Federation University Australia).

In February 1923, the chemist and food technologist was hired by the Fred Walker Company to develop the tasty yeast-based spread for retail sale.

Cyril's other claim to fame was developing Kraft's processed cheese.

The Cyril Callister Foundation Inc. is spearheading the pop-up museum, with plans underway for a permanent museum in Beaufort to showcase Cyril's life and achievements.

HOT WEATHER ALERT☀️ ❗ ☀️ ❗ ☀️ ❗

Victoria is expecting some dangerously hot weather this week. Protect your animals from the heat and keep them healthy and safe by:
1. Keeping all animals in cool or shady areas
2. Providing plenty of fresh, cool water
3. Avoid exercising your animal in the heat of the day. Choose instead to go in the morning or evening when it’s cooler
4. NEVER leave your pet in a car in warm weather. It takes only minutes for an animal to suffer an agonising death if left in a hot car.
5. Watch out for snakes
6. Use an animal friendly sunscreen on sunburn prone areas such as pink noses and ears or hairless patches.
7. Have a bushfire survival plan in place for you and your pets.
8. Remove winter rugs from horses
