This year’s annual planting weekend was huge – 1,326 new plants are in! Enormous, heartfelt thanks to our friends and family who came along this past weekend. What a joy to spend time together tending to this precious land.

We recently expanded the dam on site, and it’s become a beautiful oasis at NewFarm. With a floating jetty and rope swimming lane, the dam is available for use by guests when booking the whole campground (e.g. weddings, retreats and special events). 💦

We’re smack in the middle of Bunuru, the Noongar name for the hottest time of the year. This season is characterised by scorching days, minimal rain and hot easterly winds that occasionally give way to cooling sea breezes along the coast.

While the heat might seem intense, it was traditionally, and still is, a great time for Indigenous communities to live and fish by the coast, rivers, and estuaries. The abundance of freshwater and seafood during this time provides a vital source of sustenance.

Bunuru is also a time of stunning white blooms, with Jarrah, Marri, and Ghost Gums adorning the landscape. It’s a fascinating season that offers a glimpse into the traditional way of life of the Noongar people and the unique beauty of the Australian landscape.

Our bees also love Bunuru and are busy making provisions to get them through the winter! 🐝

We make every effort to touch the earth as lightly as possible, and allocate 5% of your booking fees to revegetation activities.

In our first year, we blew our revegetation budget, splurging on over 1,200 trees and shrubs for zones around the hall and along the southern boundary. We’re not mad about it either – look how it’s coming along!! 😍

We feel privileged to care for this incredible piece of earth and have committed to looking after it, bringing it back to life after many years of traditional farming and a little neglect.
