At International House, we provide catered accommodation for 200 undergraduate students, and self catered accommodation for 38 post graduate and mature aged undergraduate students. Our residents comprise students from approximately 35 different countries. At International House we provide a supportive and safe environment while offering opportunities that allow a broad and rich educational, social

and cross cultural experience. We invite you to share this unique cosmopolitan community that reflects an extraordinary diversity of backgrounds, cultures, professional interests and nationalities.

International House and Toowong Rotary have teamed up to welcome new Australian Citizens. 🌏🤝🦘

We’re looking for returning IH residents and recent alumni to volunteer in the ‘welcoming committee’ as new Citizens make their pledge of commitment.

A little under a week since we said goodbye to our fully catered residents 💛🖤
It has been bittersweet and oh so quiet without the usual bustle of students (if you don’t count the builders hard at work on new improvements for next year 🛠).

To our newest batch of alumni, we hope your time at IH was filled with happy memories which you carry with you for all your future adventures. Remember to tag us and use to share your journey 🌏

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Brotherhood Brunch and Fellows induction!

We felt so honoured to celebrate with residents, alumni, donors, and our newest Honorary Fellows. At this special event, three exceptional individuals were inducted as new International House Fellows: Peta Irvine, Winnie Kiap CBE, and Dr Carla Tromans.

It was a joy to hear from our USLS scholarship recipients, present the Jarrah Young Memorial Award, and of course hear from our newly inducted Honorary Fellows.

We were absolutely delighted to host Soirée for the first time since 2019! The Student Club did an outstanding job organising this event, which celebrates the unique cultural makeup of our residents. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered their time 📋 to make this event possible, the performers 💃 and stall holders 🎨🐊 who kept the crowd entertained, Chartwells for delicious food 🍜 and our wonderful sponsors and

Vale Dr Neil Holm

It is withdeep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr Neil Holm.
Neil arrived to IH with his family in 1987 to take on the role of Director (then known as Warden). He held this position until 1999 and he and his wife Margaret are remembered with great fondness by residents for their care, understanding and committment to creating an egalitarian community.
His vision for a harmonious and inclusive environment was evident in every initiative he undertook, his efforts ensuring that IH was not just a place to live but a home where everyone felt valued and heard.
Neil was recognised as an IH Fellow, together with Margaret, in 2013 and remained a constant and proud member of the IH Community with a legacy still woven into the fabric of our culture and values.

“Full of idealism, [Margaret and I] came with very high hopes of a stimulating life in a vibrant multicultural community of young scholars. We were not disappointed... We came to a college that was founded on principles with which we were in total harmony.“

Thank you, Neil, for your unwavering dedication and the indelible mark you have left on the college. Your legacy will continue to guide and inspire us.
