PSA 📣 Aussies arriving in the UK from 8th January 2025 will need a new visa-waiver authorisation.

The UK Government is introducing the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for millions of visitors who pass through the UK border every year, regardless of age. This includes anyone transiting through the UK.

The ETA costs £10 ($19) and will be valid for 2 years. During that time, you can travel to the UK as many times as you like.

I want to share a story of something that happened just last week to one of my clients who very unfortunately lost his passport while travelling in Fiji, but it’s taught me a very valuable lesson that I want to pass onto you all!

Every country is different, different laws and rules and regulations around immigration, but this particular client was very lucky because the relationship that Australia have with Fiji immigration meant that the process for him to get home even after losing his passport was a simple enough one, but one thing helped MASSIVELY…

He had a photocopy of his passport saved on his phone. If it wasn’t for this, the process to get him home would have been made a lot more difficult and he would’ve had to have spent THOUSANDS of dollars to extend his trip, which in reality is not always possible for people to do.

So my one tip to anyone travelling overseas - make sure you have a copy of your passport saved in your phone, a copy emailed to yourself or a copy left with loved ones so that if something like this was to ever happen, you have the best possible chance of the situation being rectified quite quickly.
