Formed by 🌋 volcanic activity over 9000 years ago, Lake Eacham is found within the Crater Lakes National Park on the Atherton Tablelands.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also known as Yidyam or Wiinggina to the local Ngadjon-Jii people, it’s just under a two hour drive from Port Douglas or one hour from Cairns. Surrounded by dense lush rainforest, the lake’s crystal clear water has an average depth of 65m and is ringed by a 3km rainforest walking track.

The area is also renowned for birdwatching with over 180 known species. It’s a beautiful place to visit when exploring the area 🏞️
