The third in the iconic shape series, is a little more modern. It's the Blueshift creations from 2007 to 2011. Dean and Des Gibson have been creating fantastic vehicles for many years and the first enclosed offering in 2007 stepped up the game. Perhaps this is the neatest cofeflute/corex vehicle ever created?

The shape carried through the 2009-2011 composite versions which were a more refined rounded version of the coreflute model.
This shape netted the team a Murray bridge win and an Australian championship in 2008.

Dean and Des still create amazing looking vehicles to this day!

The next iconic shape in the series, goes back to the late 90's. The reflex fairing was created by Don Elliot of DH enterprises. The fairing was originally created as a viable velomobile option in conjunction with Greenspeed. the fairing was created in 3 models. The 700 the 850 and the 1000. This referred to the faring width.

The shape had success in the world solar cycle challenge as well as at the 1998 RACV energy breakthrough with the Southern alliance team.
The shape still continues to this day, as Don is involved with the Holmsglen Tafe team.

Following up from Yesterdays post, here are some examples of Sorcerer fairings that have been modified to create completely unique builds! It stretched the memory bank a bit, but I'm sure I can fine more!

Tomorrow I'm going to highlight the second iconic fairing!

Happy New Year everyone! To start off the new Year, I thought i'd do a small series on iconic HPV racing/Velo shapes and designs. Some of them more modern, others might stretch the memory bank a touch.

The first shape to kick things off, is the Trisled mk2 Sorcerer. This has to be one of the most recognisable shapes of the last 20 years.
Designed and built by Trisled owner Ben Goodall, the mk2 sorcerer was an improved version of the original Sorcerer.

Its track debut in 2002 at Murray Bridge, netted the team a win. This shape has seen much success over the years since, including multiple wonthaggi podium finishes as well as an Australian Championship in 2009.

There were 2 more iterations of the sorcerer after this, but the mk2 is the one that people still talk about to this day. This shape has also been the basis of many home built and modified racing trikes over the years. I'll post some pics of those in upcoming days as well.

Hello Everyone! Its been a long time between posts, but ive been super busy with life. I've been getting asked a lot to start sharing some content again.

Today I found something that sparked me to start again! I managed to pick up this old vehicle from the local tip today and thought id share it around. It goes way back to 2002!
I love finding old EB/Pedal prix stuff around.
Who else has old bits and pieces laying around? Feel free to share on the page what you have!

Happy new year everyone! I’ve had a massive cleanup of some photos and hpv content over the break.

Which photo series would you guys and girls like me to continue with first? Pedal Prix, Energy Breakthrough or Wonthaggi?

Energy Breakthrough strange moment #8.
One of the strangest moments I can recall happened in 2002. The day was hot and the battle between Highview and Bendigo senior was on. As the night fell teams started to get a ridiculously high amount of punctures.
It was found that someone had thrown a bag of tacks onto the track and the race was promptly red flagged for a big sweep up!

Energy Breakthrough strange moment #9.
The 2011 race started under horrendous conditions. So much rain fell hours before the start, that the drains had to be cut with a concrete saw to get some of the standing water off the circuit. Another first to top off the weekend, was a mixed category team winning the trial outright in hot, sunny conditions on Sunday!

Energy Breakthrough strange moment #10.
The 2004 Energy breakthrough started in odd fashion, with a timing issue for Friday nights practice session. Not enough transponders were available, as another event was running at the same time.
The grid positions were drawn out of a hat, creating a very odd looking grid.
The weekend was topped off, with the team taking line honours having a 50 lap penalty hanging over them and the team in second place being declared the winner.

The countdown for the 31st edition of the energy breakthrough would have been well and truly on by now! In the next month leading up to when we would have been gathering in Maryborough, I’m going to go through the top 10 list of first wins, strange moments and unusual finishes to name a few. I’ll be starting off tomorrow night.

I’m planning to do a little tidying of some of my archived hpv files tonight. Is there anything that we would like to see? Perhaps I might post a heap of old construction and technical photos? Maybe some of the trikes I’ve built over the years that I’ve never really shared photos of?

Well it seems a lot of people were interested in the vehicle posted in the picture last night. I've had quite a few messages about it!

It was of course the winner of the 2005 Racv Energy Breakthrough, Bukkamalazir built by the students from Bendigo Senior.

This vehicle is as significant in the EB history, as it is for the school itself.
Completing 651 laps and winning by the largest margin ever it truly was a special vehicle.
It has been talked about for many years as perhaps the most perfect race win ever! The vehicle was still pristine at the finish without so much as a wheel change for the entire race!

The vehicle was a complete evolution for Bendigo senior. The previous years vehicles had all been based off the very successful Battered Sav and LT.Denver.
This vehicle had a complete carbon seat, roll structure and a full kevlar fairing.

I've included some more pictures below, some of them i have never shared before. I hope you enjoy them.

I'm having some issues with the 2010 wonni photo set, but ill keep working on it.

2009 Wonthaggi GP photo set

This event was one of the hottest races that I can remember. Saturday was scolding and really took its toll on some of the riders.
It was a fight at the front between tru blu, Expats and trisled.

The lead see-sawed throughout the day, but it was tru blu that managed to ride away and take the victory.

I plan to be on again tonight to post any pics up that are requested. Ill also upload the 2009 wonthaggi photo album. Keep the requests coming, i'm enjoying going back through the archives!

The 2007 Wonthaggi delivered another year of excellent racing and 4 seasons of weather!
Trisled returned with a radical new vehicle with a very interesting steering design and a brand new shape.

BYR also returned, but with a team of young riders that were keen to pick up where the previous teams had left off.
Tru-blu also had a new vehicle, which was very sleek and well presented as always.

As the race wore on, it was clear that BYR were very, very fast!
They managed the conditions and ran away to a very comfortable victory.

Apologies for the lack of content this year. Its been super busy from a work and family point of view.
I thought it might be nice to reminisce once again after the rest of the events for 2021 have been cancelled.

I'll continue where I left off with the 2006 wonthaggi GP.
What a fantastic race it was! The weather threw everything at us with some wild conditions on Saturday afternoon.

It was the team from BYR that managed to sneak home to the win over a very fast and consistent team Trisled.
BYR had the advantage up the hill with an upright seat and 16" rear wheel in a re-vamped BY03.

Trisled were fast down the hill and around the oval with their fast sorcerer MK2. They had the advantage of being able to remove the hatch and run head-out at night which kept them right in the fight.

I was reminded by another HPV old timer that i had stopped the wonthaggi photo albums. So, here's the next year in the series.

2005 was one of the classics. A race long battle between the expats racing crew and Ben Harnetty's NOS racing team was superb.
The fancied defending champs at Greenspeed turned up with a brand new carbon Don Elliot fairing and it looked fantastic!
Unfortunately for them, the vehicle proved a bit unstable for the demanding Wonthaggi circuit.

Happy Friday!
I've been crazy busy, but I think i've finally sorted all of my photos.

A little flashback to a bit of action on the old Victoria park circuit from 2008.

Wonthaggi Time!

I've been looking forward to going through the Wonni photos for ages!

I've packaged up the photos i found from 1999-2004 in this first post.
From 2005 onwards, i have a lot more photos.

I hope you all enjoy the trip down memory lane as much as i did!

Good evening all, I hope it’s been a great week.
Apologies for the lack of content, but it’s been very busy of late with work and young kids!

I’ve been working away at some of my old photos and I’m about to take us all back down memory lane with a series of pics from Wonthaggi from around 2000 until 2019.

Also, check out some of the cool new stuff coming from our local Australian trike manufacturers!
