In celebration of our 30th Wedding Anniversary in July 2024, we traveled to Bali for a two-week getaway. Our stay was split between Villa Ubud Sunshine in Ubud and Fourteen Roses Boutique Hotel in Kuta, both of which exceeded expectations. The accommodations provided effortless access to restaurants and shopping, with breakfast included. Bali's allure is heightened when discovering its rural landscapes. With a brief six-hour flight from Brisbane, this tropical paradise is readily accessible.

Early last year, we embarked on our first P&O cruise since 2011, comprising three consecutive four-day voyages to Hobart, Phillip Island, and Moreton Island. The Pacific Adventure proved to be a lovely vessel, with exceptional staff and delectable restaurant cuisine. However, The Pantry's offerings were somewhat disappointing due to limited variety. P&O cruises distinguish themselves by visiting unique destinations that are not typically frequented by other cruise lines. Overall, our experience was fabulous, particularly since we were traveling with friends who were new to cruising and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Notably, P&O will undergo rebranding to Carnival in March 2025, and it is hoped that they will continue to offer their distinctive itineraries.

Following a period of relative quiet, I recently had the pleasure of cruising aboard Carnival Luminosa to Papua New Guinea. The cruise was nothing short of fabulous. While some people may perceive this destination as daunting, my fellow travelers and I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We were warmly received by the locals, who were lovely, and we had the opportunity to visit some stunning island beaches. Our cruise included a Carnival-organized tour at Alotau and a private tour in Rabaul, as well as three island stops that were perfect for swimming and unwinding. We made two stops at Conflict Island, which is truly breathtaking, and one stop at Kirawina Island. For those interested in exploring a new and exciting destination, it's worth noting that Carnival only offers this cruise once a year from Brisbane.

For anyone waiting for the Carnival Ship from Brisbane, it has finally been announced today. Great class of ship, and there will be a couple of transpacific cruises over the next couple of years.


We are excited to announce that Costa Luminosa is set to join the Carnival fleet and will start guest operations as Carnival Luminosa in November 2022 from Brisbane.

She will operate seasonally from Brisbane (October-April) and Seattle to Alaska (May-September) moving forward.

Luminosa is a Spirit class ship with a large number of balcony staterooms and will join her sister ships in the Carnival fleet (Spirit, Pride, Legend and Miracle).

As we get closer to taking possession of the ship, we’ll be in a better position to share more details of what additions will be made prior to the introduction of service in November. We are planning modifications to add some of Carnival’s signature fun for guests, as well as aligning technology and other systems to be more consistent with the Carnival fleet.

We will advise shortly when these new sailings will be available in GoCCL.com.au and stay tuned for further updates.
