An excited QLD Tour group attended the recent and last instalment of the Scenic Rim, Tamborine Mountain library series of “Stories and Songs”, hosted by Russell Smith. The first artist of the series was Russell himself “Brolga”. Then Shane Howard of Goanna. Lastly came the amazingly talented group “The Inadequates” this trio consists of; Lawson MacKriell (mandolin) Marcus. Church (guitar) and Jackson Church (accordion). This folk acoustic trio were amazing, innovative, and extremely talented. The series was a personal exploration of the artists music and of themselves as they shared their inspiration behind their songs. Furthermore we witnessed much much more! My goal as the owner of QLD Tours is to showcase Australian Culture. A big thank you to everyone involved. Lastly we got to witness three generations of Tamborine Mountain music family of the Church’s in the final song. “Haystack mtn Hermits”#culture #heritage #tours #visit #seeaustralia #music #folk #tallent #history #tamborinemountain #library #dayout #busking #seequeensland #visitqueensland

QLDTours visited Rolin Strawberry Farm where you can pick your own fruit. Tom was great and gave us the info on the best area to pick from. QLDTours can offer you a unique day or weekend getaway featuring farm experiences in the South East. Don’t forget the upcoming strawberry festivals at Redland Bay and Stanthorpe. Message me on 0405777217 to discuss a private bespoke tour. Queensland supplies the winter production of strawberries for Australia, with the season running from May to October each year. Queensland now also supplies a quantity of summer production, with strawberries being grown from October to May in the Stanthorpe region.
There are approximately 80 strawberry growers in Queensland, covering over 300 hectares of land. The majority of growers are located in the Caboolture region, north of Brisbane and up to the Sunshine Coast. Bundaberg is also a growing region for strawberry production.
Strawberries are grown in most states in Australia. Year-round availability is made possible through the different regions.
For the year ending June 2022, across Strawberries nationally:
* 68,311t was produced with 7% sent to be processed, predominantly in preserves.
* The value of production was $416.8m while the wholesale value of the fresh supply was $464.5m.
* 71% of Australian households purchased fresh strawberries, buying an average of 330g per shopping trip.
* The supply per capita was 2.35kg, based on the volume supplied.
In the financial year 2021/22, Queensland produced 42% of the total strawberry volume or 28,691t.

Wallum Banksia
As a flowering tree, the Wallum Banksia (Banksia aemula) serves as both the floral and arboreal emblem for the City of Gold Coast. It is a small bushy tree that survives in sandy soils and was one of the first banksias to be successfully grown in England after being introduced there in 1788. The flower buds change colour from green to pale yellow and the old brown flowers and seed pods remain on the branch following flowering. The old flowers and seed pods of the Wallum Banksia influenced the design of May Gibb’s Big Bad Banksia Men.
In the early 1990s Council received a number of enquiries asking what the floral or arboreal emblem for the Gold Coast was. The City did not have one and following discussions with staff from the Parks and Gardens department, it was decided that the Wallum Banksia, with its unique flower and seed pod, would be an ideal candidate.
It was formally recommended as the floral and arboreal emblem of the Gold Coast by the Supervising Landscape. It was officially adopted by Council on the 8 March 1991. As the Wallum Banksia occurs in the coastal regions and considered the appropriate choice to reflect the region’s coastal character.
In addition to being the floral and arboreal emblem of the Gold Coast, in 1998, the Wallum Banksia was also incorporated into the City’s coat of arms, replacing a pelican. It is also the emblem of the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens.
Due to development, the Wallum Banksia is relatively rare in the wild on the Gold Coast. Remnants can be found at the Pine Ridge Conservation Park in Runaway Bay, Len and Muriel Godlonton Reserve in Runaway Bay and Pizzey Park in Miami. The Wallum Banksia has been re-introduced in parts of the city today.
