Junior Juggernaut Continues!

For the third time this season, the Roadline Civil Contractors Junior Formula 500’s will hit the high banks of the Perth Motorplex, contesting the next round of the Perth Motorplex FAST Racing Series Track Championship!

Raff Frisina (RF Motorsport) has won the first two main events of the Motorplex season so far, and in fact, has not finished outside the top two in any of the six races held at the venue so far. Can the #3 make it win #3?

The #2 of Max Lang (Max Lang Racing) holds down second in the series so far, a second and a third in the features. He is only twenty one points behind Frisina and with some good results tomorrow night, could significantly close that gap.

Todd Pages (Pages Motorsport) is third overall, also with a second and a third in the feature races so far, but an early DNF in the opening round has hurt the points slightly. With only seventeen points separating him and Lang, there are still more chapters to be written in this story.

Leah Heeps (Leah Heeps Motorsport) has been a surprise package this season, a couple of heat wins already, and consistently finishing the two Motorplex main events so far. Just behind her is Lauren Hedington (Mears Racing), an opening night DNS in the feature hurting her overall points, and both young ladies have some work to do to get themselves back into contention for the series title.

Rounding out the standings at this point is rookie Braxton Watts (Braxton Watts Racing ). Some tough results to start the season were all forgotten at the last show when he claimed his first-ever heat race win, and fingers crossed he can repeat that performance this weekend!

The final nomination for tomorrow night’s show is another rookie. Mason Whitehead joins the Junior Formula 500 ranks this weekend as the second car coming from the Kalgoorlie area, and with plenty of experience in a Junior Sedan previously plus cutting some laps at the Motorplex on Wednesday night, he too can be confident of joining the pack pretty quickly.

Make sure you are at the Motorplex tomorrow night to see the future of our sport in action once again!

Season Kick Off!

Just one week after they hit the track for the first time in season 2024/25, the Roadline Civil Contractors Junior Formula 500’s will be back again this weekend, contesting the opening round of the Roadline Civil Contractors Junior West Coast Series.

The opening show at the Motorplex was a big one, with every competitor pushing themselves to the limit and the result being some great racing.

An identical field will contest this weekend’s show as we look to crown a brand-new Junior West Coast Series champion after last season’s winner Chloe Newmarch graduated into the senior ranks.

Max Lang (Max Lang Racing) was closest last season, coming home second overall, and a podium finish in last weekend's opening show will do his confidence no harm at all as he looks to go one better overall this time out.

Raff Frisina (RF Motorsport) got the season off to the best possible start, claiming the opening night feature win last week at the Motorplex. A fourth-place finish wasn’t quite the desired outcome last season, but impressive nonetheless, so a big showing this weekend will be called for in the search for overall series glory.

Todd Pages was third overall last season and broke through for a heat win and a second place come feature time last weekend. He won a heat race at the Pithara event last season and was schedule to start in the main event before the heavens opened, so this weekend is certainly a bit of unfinished business!

None of the other drivers in this weekend’s field were at that Pithara show, though Lauren Hedington has previously competed there before having some time off. The car she is driving this weekend qualified on the front row for the feature at this event last season, so it certainly has the pace, and the more laps Lauren gets back under her belt, the better she is going to be, especially as she looks to bounce back from not starting last meeting’s main event.

Braxton Watts (Braxton Watts Racing ) had a solid debut at the Motorplex last weekend, coming home with fourth place while Leah Heeps was a little unlucky to not finish any higher than fifth. These two have already shown a heap of improvement and this weekend could well see them right in the thick of things!

Just as their senior counterparts do, the Junior drivers will also have the chance to play their Ace Card at the drivers meeting for each round to double their points. Some choose to do it early, some wait for their favourite track, and some wait until the very last show to play their hand… what will happen this weekend?

Be at Pithara Speedway Club Inc this Saturday night to find out!

West Coast Series Gets Underway!

This weekend will see the opening round of the Roof Rack City Wangara West Coast Series at Pithara Speedway Club Inc, proudly presented by the team from Hyper Industries.

Fourteen nominations have been received for the show and with some big names in the field, it should certainly be a cracking way to open the season.

Defending champion Brendan Newmarch (Newmarch Racing) headlines the field, after claiming a twenty-four point win last season. He grabbed four heat race wins, a feature race win, two second places, and a third and would love to improve on that this season, starting this weekend at Pithara.

Brendon Marshman (Opal Finance F500 Racing) was third overall last season, just ten points shy of coming home second. He claimed the opening round of the West Coast Series last season and would love to open his account the same way this season as he looks to elevate himself up the overall standings once again.

Coming in hot is Cody Turacchio (Cody Turacchio Motorsports) fresh off a dominant win in the opening night showdown at the Perth Motorplex. Although not originally looking to contest the full series, Cody has thrown his at in the ring for this weekend, and with some good results, we may just see him race more of the scheduled rounds!

Jamie Pages and Troy Samwell rounded out the top five overall finishers in the 2023/24 West Coast Series. Both have nominated for the show this weekend, and after best finishes of fourth and fifth respectively in last year’s features, will be hoping to start their seasons off with a bang.

Nicholas Pages is the only other top ten driver from last year to nominate for this weekend’s show, and after cutting his teeth in the senior division for the first time, will be keen to put his increased experience to the test.

Darren Rodwell, Cheryl Upton, Rhys Cu***ng (RJC Motorsport), and Debbie Garland (Woodys Racing) all contested select rounds of the series last season and are back looking for improved results. Many of them had a couple of runs in the last few weeks and will hope to put together some more solid runs this time out.

Alex Dewers, Bryan Sharpe, Logan Dean (LSJ Motorsports) and Chloe Newmarch (Newmarch Racing) didn’t contest any of the West Coast Series last season, though Chloe and Logan both raced in the Junior version. Chloe was absolutely dominant with six feature wins from the seven rounds to claim the overall series title while Dean finished fifth overall. Both have graduated and already put on some great showings as part of the senior division, so will certainly challenge Dewers, Sharpe and the rest of the field.

Drivers will once again have the opportunity to play their Ace Card at any one round this season, which effectively doubles their points for that evening. This will be done at the drivers meeting for each round, and last year it played a big part in the whole Championship results, so it is certainly another exciting element to what should be another brilliant series.

Racing kicks off this Saturday night at Pithara around 6pm.

Welcome back to the Roof Rack City West Coast Series!

It may be a case of déjà vu, but this year will see Roof Rack City Wangara back as the naming rights sponsors for the West Coast Series!

As has been the case for a number of years now, the Formula 500’s WA Inc. conduct a pre-season draw amongst all our valued sponsors to determine who will be the naming rights and round sponsors for the West Coast Series.

That draw happened recently and amazingly, we can announce that once again, Roof Rack City Wangara returns as the naming rights sponsor for the 2024/25 West Coast Series!

A draw was also conducted for the round sponsors across the season, with Hyper Industries now supporting Round One at Pithara Speedway Club Inc, Xtreme Bounce Party Hire Round Two at Moora Speedway, Complete Tyre Solutions Round Three at Narrogin Speedway Club and Full Belly Catering at Bunbury Speedway for Round Four.

Hazard Group WA will be presenting the fifth round at Esperance Speedway, with Freedom Caravans doing the same for Round Six at Albany Speedway Club, while Asteel Powdercoaters will present the huge grand final event at Kalgoorlie International Speedway!

All cars contesting any part of the West Coast Series will be required to run all the sponsors stickers, providing great exposure for all those who have gotten behind our great division.

Make sure you get behind all the sponsors who support us, and over the season we will endeavour to share more about what they can offer you.

We can’t wait to get underway in just over a week’s time at Pithara Speedway!
