I kinda hate cheesy end-of-year wrap-ups —but I’ve never done one — so here we are...🤷‍♂️😂

I started this page a few years back as there wasn’t much variety in the world of Aussie points content…and my friends/family didn’t really care about my love of points & deals!

The goal was not only to provide people with info & support but also to bring a bit of fun and everyday realism to the (pretty boring) points world - hopefully I still do that!

In 2024, I took The Points Coach full-time as a business, and let me tell you—it’s been a wild ride making it all work.

To everyone who’s followed along, become a group member, or just slid into my DMs with your success stories or some ‘points chat’—thank you! 🙏🏼

Qantas Hotels has launched a TRIPLE POINTS frenzy offer which runs until Sunday the 27th October (book by this date) for travel until 26 October 2025

During a Triple Points offer you can earn points at the following rates on eligible bookings.

$1 = 9 Qantas Points (standard)
$1 = 11.25 Qantas Points (Points Club)
$1 = 13.5 Qantas Points (Points Club+)

Qantas Business Reward members score another 1 point per $1
so a $1000 booking could potentially earn up to 14500 points.

Qantas Points will be credited to your account within 6 weeks of hotel check-out.

I personally find Qantas Hotels is often not the cheapest option so ensure you shop around and compare prices before chasing points. However with the inclusion of bonus points they become a LOT more competitive 👌

It seems the previous T&Cs were a little 'exploitable'....😉

Even better - you can take advantage of this offer THREE times (using 3 seperate bookings)

Key Details....
- Bookings from July 30, 2024, to August 5, 2024
- For stays up until August 2025
- NO minimum spend threshold for eligibility
- Valid for up to 3 times on the first 3 eligible bookings
- Bonus in addition to standard earn rate of 3 points per $1 spent
- Points credited within 6 weeks of hotel check-out
- Bonus Points NOT earned if booking is amended

Qantas Hotels can often be more expensive so always shop around and compare prices.

I'd personally value the 5000 points at a minimum of $50 so factor that into your calculations.

In theory the cheaper the hotel - the 'better' the bonus as a percentage of your overall spend....so this offer is a win for anyone travelling to a 'cheaper' country!

A fantastic offer from Qantas Wines just popped up on my Instagram - 20% off Wine and Champagne using the code FAMILY20 at checkout.

Despite the 'exclusive' wording - It should be available for everyone as advertised via Qantas social media.

The BEST thing is it can be used on the Bonus Point cases which significantly increases your bang-for-buck points wise. The 'best' offers will allow you to buy points for a little over 1.5c each + you get the wine too of course.

Code is valid until the 30th of June (excludes beer/spirits/wine subscriptions)

I did a test cart and unfortunately it doesn't look like it also stacks with the 10% off Points Club Plus discount though - max discount stays at 20% off.

Other negative is you can only enter ONE promo code online so you can't stack this with vouchers or the 1st customer code bonus

Still a great offer though! 🍷

This was a popular offer last year - with the 6 weeks free - and has returned in a slightly reduced format (2023 best deal offered 150k points and had lower overall premiums)

The free weeks kick in after 42 days so all going to plan you'll only need to pay for 7 weeks of coverage to get the points.

Note - Must be a NEW Medibank member who has not held Medibank or ahm hospital cover in the last 12 months and hold the same eligible cover for 90 consecutive days to be eligible for the Velocity Points.

Whilst the opportunity is there to score a pile of points for a fairly low rate - this is not an individual recommendation so always ensure you check T&Cs and consider your own circumstances 👌

Velocity has launched a Points Sale where you can score up to 35% off when buying Points.

Note you have to buy a minimum of 120k to get the maximum discount. This works out at paying 1.52c per point.

Not something I'd personally do BUT might be useful for anyone needing a quick points-boost to book an available reward seat.

Also keep in mind we've seen a few 'up to 40% discounts' the past 12 months so this is a 'reduced' offer.

1,000 - 25,000 Points: 10% discount
26,000 - 70,000 Points: 15% discount
80,000 - 110,000 Points: 25% discount
120,000 - 250,000 Points: 35% discount

Qantas is currently offering up to 50% bonus when buying 'top-up' points (link below 👇)

Buy 15 - 35k Points = 25% Bonus
Buy 40 - 150k Points = 50% Bonus

As an example the maximum amount of 225k points would cost $3999 which is a rate of 1.78c per point.
Offer ends 5th May.

My Advice...
It usually only makes sense to buy Qantas points if you need an immediate amount to get you a reward seat which is available to book & saves you money over just paying for a ticket.
The main reason why you shouldn't buy Qantas Points is that even with a 50% bonus the pricing isn't great compared to other programs that sell points AND more importantly it nearly always works out to be a better deal just buying wine from Qantas Wines with bonus points instead 👌 (the downside is points don't credit instantly)

As an example....
Buy 60k Points with this offer for $1155
OR
Buy x2 cases of this Wine for $1068 and earn 60k bonus points + 12 bottles of wine 🍷

This promotion effectively values your precious points at a very respectable 2 CENTS each.

This offers THE BEST points redemption value available outside of those limited Classic Reward Seats and I'm sure could be quite tempting for many sitting on a big pile of points...

The 'cheapest package' which is a 10 day China Tour (including flights) can be had for as little as 49 950 points per person!

There is also excellent value in the 2-for-1 packages such as an 18 day Europe tour for x2 for under 500k points in total (again including flights and cruise).

Looks like one of the first 'enhancements' from Qantas in their upcoming Reward Program changes is the removal of those pesky (and ridiculously priced) 'Points + Pay' seats from the search results.

You now simply have the choice to see either....

Reward Seats (if available)
Cash Prices (with the chance to use points later in the booking)

A subtle change BUT a positive one as it helps remove the confusion for 'less experienced' points collectors and also hopefully removes those news articles telling us that a Qantas Flight to LA now costs a million points!

Now we await the other changes (surely tiered pricing or a new category of 'rewards' is the strong favourite!) 🤔

Hi team - I've shown this previously but after being asked by a few people yesterday on the Qantas page i'll share again - here is another quick little vid showing how to access the always 'mysterious' Calendar View using the Multi-City Booking tool on the Qantas Page.
