Since hiking Machu Picchu wasn’t quite enough 😅

Aleisha went on a 2-day, 1-night trek. On day one, it was from Congomire to our lodge, Huampococha Tambo. The hike was around 8km, reaching an altitude of 4,820 meters above sea level. Even though 8km might not sound long, the lower oxygen levels at that height really make it a challenge!

Did you know… Most of the Inca civilisation was destroyed by the Spanish when they took over in the mid 1500s. Machu Picchu was built on the top of a mountain at nearly 8,000 feet (2,430 meters) above sea level, meaning it was not visible from the ground below making it one of the most remarkable and well-preserved Inca cities.
