Oh my, is it really that long since I've posted???? Yep, it would seem so. All I can really say for now is that we are all doing fine. I've been flat out like the proverbial lizard with the Community Clinics, and Paul is busy making our winter socks....

Last night, the hard work, out-of-the-box thinking, weird looks and "crazy" thinking paid off....this is the highest level of partnership currently available to a Queensland-based business....

So, i hope everyone is enjoying the rain. We are just about to start directing more water into our new tank. It is lovely to have the option of tanks to use! We have now got more water in storage than at any other time in 12 years :) :) :)

And....some exciting news coming up next week ;)

24/02/2018

We had a great time yesterday afternoon / evening learning a bit about the frogs found here in the Somerset council area. Apparently, there are over 130 species around here. Our presenter seemed to know each of them by name!!!! Now we can go and do some frog walks around the dams :) Thanks to Darren and the Somerset Regional Council for organising the evening.

Satchitananda – Adventures in Living Sustainably

Hey everyone, the website is back!!!!

Well, it is very light on content, but it is working. I will add more information to it over coming days (weeks?).

If there is anything in particular that you would like to see on the website, let me know and I will see what I can do.

Here is the website link: www.satchitananda.net.au

Posted on January 5, 2018February 17, 2018Hello world! Hi everyone, This is the new and (soon to be) improved website for our Sustainable Living property Satchitananda. Over coming weeks I will be adding to the site and putting up new content. There will also be new photos of the animals and project...

11/02/2018

Ok, so...developing the new satchitananda website. Apart from contact information, what do you want to see?

Part of the plan is to develop a subscriber-only section for people who join up to the Sustainability Challenge program (yeah, gotta work out how to do that yet).

So, what else?

08/02/2018

Ok everyone...just a heads up...today the old satchitananda website comes down!!!!

I will let you know when the new one is up.

19/01/2018

For those who follow this or the website, please note that at some point in the next couple of weeks, the website satchitananda.net.au will be going off-air while I refresh and redo it. I have decided that it is going to be easier for me to just redevelop the whole site with my new hosting service. Just thought I'd let you all know... :)

10/01/2018

Well, I am still working on moving the Satchitananda website...I am starting to think that maybe I will just start a whole new site so my question to you all is:

If I started the website for Satchitananda from scratch what would you like to see on the website?

Add your suggestions in the comments and I will see what I can do. Sometimes, it is just better to trade in the old and get something new and better!

This is Christmas in Australia...Hollowbur Hills, Ray Zwicker, and all my friends overseas :)

How awesome is this! 🎅🤶🎄

This Christmas, if you take the back way between Gayndah and Mundubbera in the North Burnett, you're treated to Rudolph's Round Bale Roadtrip.

Kylee Young's family donated more than 40 round bales for her neighbours and the town to decorate.

Finally, after 9 years....GANAEL has its own bank account!

04/12/2017

So where did my post go?????? It was full of wisdom and insight....ah well.

In essence it said we've been really busy and i have been terribly slack with posting.

We have welcomed new pigeons to their loft and Koshka the cat to her queenly domain in the newly approved residence.

And despite dealing with painful torn meniscuses, I have got well underway with opening the mobile herbal clinic (ganael.com.au) which is also sponsoring the establishment of the Somerset Region Community Herb Clinics providing low cost mobile herbal medicine information and consultations.

As well, things are now underway with moving the Satchitananda website to new hosting arrangements.....hopefully there won't be too much disruption there....

Ganael – A Natural Approach to Health

Hi everyone, so my resolutions about posting regularly have not yet come true....so sorry. My only excuse is we have been busy:

- finishing the house
- getting council sign off on the house
- more work on the home built gas and air conditioners
- planting up the herb and veggie gardens
- dealing with the physical impacts of aging (torn meniscus)
- building the new pigeon loft
- settling our new pigeons into their loft
- settling koshka the cat into the household (well, kharuul thinks she is a great playmate but koshka just says "pffffffft")
- and normal everything else

And on top of that, moves are well underway not only for the mobile herbal clinic (check out www.ganael.com.au), but plans are well in place for establishing the Somerset Region Community Herb Clinics....

So, we have, as usual been busy....

I will try harder...

Really, I will....

About Ganael Ganael provides herbal medicine and sustainable lifestyle services. Most of our work can be seen on our property “Satchitananda” in the Harlin area of Somerset Regional Council. The herbal clinic is a mobile service that travels throughout the Somerset regional area.

Updates

Hi everyone, so sorry for the loooooooong delay between posts - so much for good intentions hey? Anyway, the reason is because we have been incredibly busy (isn't everyone). We are gradually bringing each of the new income streams online and working towards finalising a number of projects - including the house. The aquaponics system has been retired and replaced with a series of wicking beds, I have completed my herbal medicine qualifications, and we have been gradually getting things tidied up around the farm. Women Who Farm

This makes my herbal studies and herb garden even better

"The more I learned about the science of farming, the more I recognized its connections to medicine. For example, did you know that our gut physiology actually mirrors what happens in the soil? The intricate nutrient exchange between soil, microbe and plant is like the dance that takes place in our intestine, involving the mucosal lining, resident microbes and food (plants and animals)."

Sorry we've been a bit busy lately. We will try to post next week - maybe with photos of full dams. Keep safe everyone.

16/02/2017

Well, the tank is ordered and paid for - but we have had to postpone delivery and installation....what we thought we'd ordered wasn't what was delivered - so now we have to save for more sand to go underneath the tank....sand with rocks in it isn't good for a tank......but any rain we get can still go in the other big tanks please :)

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well, here it is, almost the middle of February already. And for those of us on the East Coast, we are now in the midst of a heatwave - fortunately, stage 1 of the home-built air-conditioning is working a treat. I am really looking forward to stage 2. We have been busy with our various projects: Paul has finally had his appendix removed - at last various infections were cleared and the way was open for the surgeons. [ 248 more words ]

Time’s Running Out!

There's Only 12 Days Left Hi everyone, we are (almost) back on track after all the fun just before Christmas. The surgeons have now found Paul's appendix and are ready to take it out, a new computer has been purchased (although the internet woes are a continuing saga it seems), and various bits for completion of the house have been purchased ready for installation (balcony around the verandah, pumping bits and pieces, and the pride of place - the pad for the new, extra-large water tank!). Support Wallaby’s Rest

Hey all, so - the internet got fried, the desktop computer went out in sympathy (or jumped in and got fried too), some lights aren't quite working right, and we can't tell how charged the batteries are just yet. BUT: Paul is doing fine despite his "sorta kinda appendicitis" (Dr's words not ours). Which means, back to work (no, not Paul - he can't lift anything heavier than 4kgs for another five weeks!!!!!!), which further means, please everyone, we need support for establishing Wallaby's Rest. Update 3: paul is coming home today. Follow ups over next few weeks and months while they work out what was going on

01/12/2016

Update 2: operation was a success...?*!?....they didn't take out the appendix cause it had already ruptured and formed a mass (?) Which they need to test. But he is resting comfortably and being pumped full of antibiotics to stabilise and clear the infection. Then they will work out the next step. So i am back on the farm to pump water and feed out tonight then back to the city tomorrow. We have been blessed with the presence of asuka who has looked after everything so well. She has even made her first solo cheese...
