Sled Dog Adventures Tasmania offer a range of customised recreational dryland dog sledding options for the young and old.

Our huskies have come to us from varying situations, many arriving to us via rescue groups or private rehomes from all around Australia. We also have several beautiful dogs that have joined our family through the efforts of private, ethical and registered breeders, these are primarily our working line Siberian Huskies. We are passionate about giving these beautiful dogs a forever home where they c

an do what they love, from running freely on large acreage to swimming, to foraging for the many fruits in our gardens and what gets them really excited is putting on a harness and going for a run through our temperate forests. You can join us and have a variety of different sled dog experiences from visiting our kennels from October to April to having a ride behind a large sled dog team through our narrow bush trails from May to September. To us the most important aspect in what we do here at Sled Dog Adventures Tasmania is our dog’s happiness and their health and wellbeing. They are and will always be our number one priority. For all participants you will participate in an introductory session on the wellbeing of these animals before commencing your activity and only when we are satisfied that they will be treated with the kindness and respect that they deserve will participants be able to advance to the next stage. Bookings are essential for our sit down sled dog tours as participant numbers are limited – All tours are weather dependent.

We have been a little quiet of late, but lots has been happening behind the scenes.

We wish to thank everyone who came for a run with us this season, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many people from all walks of life and sharing with them our love for our beautiful dogs and dog sledding.

We also wish to thank our wonderful team members, without our beautiful dogs none of this could happen, and to our handler Emma who always turns up with a smile on her face, and is not afraid to get into the thick of things wrangling over enthusiastic dogs when getting ready for a run. This is a physically demanding job and requires very early morning alarms in the dead of winter, but we all greet the morning wake up call with enthusiasm for what the day ahead brings.

We are already casting our minds forward to winter 2025 with the season kicking off next May. Bookings are open and we welcome enquiries. We do lovely gift vouchers too for Christmas or birthday gifts, so if you are thinking of that hard to buy for person in your life, a gift of an experience could be a real winner.

The last tour run of our season took place this morning in some very challenging weather conditions, but little breaks in the weather with the strong winds and rain easing, enabled us to all enjoy the morning.

We will be doing a more indepth end of season wrap up post in the coming days.

Yesterday (Thursday 12th September) we took out some lovely guests from Sydney for a run, the temperatures were perfect and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed getting out. After all the recent rain there were a few puddles to negotiate which added to the adventure.

We are now at the tailend of our season and to be honest we are a bit sad about that as we just love spending this special time with our beautiful dogs but we have closed bookings now for 2024. Our diary is open though for 2025 bookings with our season commencing in May 2025.

Today, Sunday 25th August saw some of our beautiful dogs attend the Antarctic Festival in Hobart. They met hundreds of people throughout the day and were all on their very best behaviour.

They do make us very proud. ♥️

We had several great sessions over the past week, and the dogs have thrived on the wonderful cold winter days. This week we have had returning guests, guests who have thought about doing a tour with us for a very long time and finally had the chance to experience a tour with us, we had a surprise tour for a very lucky 10 year old, and several guests who are on a winter holiday here in Tasmania.

We are now nearly fully booked for the remainder of our season and are sadly having to turn many people down as we are unable to fit many new bookings in. We do need rest days for our beautiful dogs and this will always be non negotiable as they are and always will be our number one priority.

July 6th - our gorgeous guests today waited more than a year for their tours due to a rescheduled session from last season.....we do hope it was worth the wait. The day itself was perfect, with frost on the ground and the sun peeking out.

June 30th - yesterday we took off into the bush for two forest runs and then after a rest welcomed a beautiful family from Melbourne who had wanted to visit a few years back until Covid hit and disrupted their travel plans...4 years later they finally made it down with the trip centred around a visit with us, we do hope we lived up to their expectations.

June 29th - wet and windy with the sun occasionally popping out...a typical winters day in Tassie. Whilst the weather was a bit average, spirits were high and the dogs enjoyed meeting several guests and giving them a wonderful experience.

Over the past couple of days we have met and introduced several families to the intriguing world of dog sledding. We all enjoyed our sessions with interesting people from all walks of life and with these wonderful dogs. The dogs themselves were so excited to go running on what has been a couple of lovely chilli days - the perfect weather for what we do.

June 21st - the day to bring your dog to work, so we did. 😅

We met such fun, delightful people today representing Qeensland, Singapore and Victoria. The dogs enjoyed a run around our trails with everyone coming back a bit mud splattered. 🙈

Thursday 20th June - we enjoyed the company of year 6 students from Clarendon Vale Primary School today. All students enjoyed a run with the dogs and the dogs were incredible with the students. It was a great day!!
