Swim safer week.
We have had an awesome time showing our swimmers how to be safer in and around water.
Our children have done a terrific job practising CPR and have had a blast learning new skills with life jackets on in the pool. For some of our children this was the first time putting on a life jacket.

Block lessons are a great way to get your child to improve quickly in the pool. This could be with confidence or if they are having trouble picking up certain skills.

Once again we are requesting that if at all possible we have one parent accompany your child to swimming lessons. We totally understand that this is not always possible. Unfortunately over the last few weeks we have had up to 4 generations attending for one child as well as friends and neighbours coming to watch as well. With the current covid restrictions and policies that we as an aquatic industry have to follow we ask that you please help us by keeping the number of visitors down.
We ask that all adult visitors (not attending child with parents ) to please check in with contact details with VISITSAFE with your mobile phone to snap the QR code.
If this is not possible we have also provided a visitor book on the inside table.

We have been running Block lessons this week. It has been so good to start catching up again with the kids.
Just a reminder to the parents, if it is at all possible it is best that one adult accompany your child to lessons, this helps us to keep the numbers in our covered area down.
We have also created another entry gate off to the side near the carport.
You are more than welcome to use this enry. We also have extra seating on this side of the pool. This will also help with social distancing.
Hand sanitizer is provided at both entries as well as antibacterial wipes. If you could please wipe down the gate latch and chairs after use.
Thanks so much to everyone.
Looking forward to another great swim season.

Finally a proposal has been put to Queensland Health regarding a covid safe plan for Swim Schools to start back up in Queensland. Each state has their own guidelines.
At present we are still non contact with teaching children which means we as swim teachers are only able to teach swimming from the sidelines of the pool which obviously isn't safe.
The swimming industry is recommending an easing of restrictions to allow us some contact in the pool. Of course their are still many restrictions which will still apply. We are now just waiting to hear back with a management plan.
We will keep you updated as we find out more.
Hopefully not long, it's looking like Term 3.

Further to the communication issued Friday, 15 May 2020, the Queensland Government have confirmed that:

“Stage 1 restrictions are intended to allow informal unstructured physical activity and training. Community sport (including the organised return of club training) is not scheduled to return until Stage 2.”

The Queensland Government have established a 'Return to Play' website which features a guidebook, fact sheets, frequently asked questions and a checklist for our industry so that our clubs and members have the latest information.

An exemption exists for primary and secondary schools in relation to swimming pools as per the 'Non-Essential Business, Activity and Undertaking Closure Direction (No. 10)'.

Swimming Queensland asks that clubs refer to all relevant guidelines when determining when and how your club might resume its activities. Swimming Queensland does not require you to submit a plan, checklist or other in relation to your club’s resumption.

Further information relating to our 20/21 season, including club affiliation and member registrations will be provided in coming weeks. For now, club affiliations and membership registrations from the 19/20 season will be recognised until 30 September 2020.

As was the case when restrictions first came into place in March, details are likely to change on a rapid basis as restrictions are lifted. Please keep up to date with the full details including all relevant links and references on our website https://qld.swimming.org.au/news-articles/covid-19-advice-clubs

Hi To All Our Swimming Family,
We have been eagerly watching all the Information that has been coming out from Scott Morison with his plan on opening up Australia. Each state has a slightly different roadwork to follow. Stage one begins 15th May. From here it does state that pools can open with the stipulation that it is one swimmer per lane, no contact. Still many restrictions. Swim Australia have been amazing with information and helping us to follow guidelines. Austswim released some information last night to help us find our way out of the lock down. For us to follow the guidelines correctly it's looking like All Swim Schools will be operational from Stage 3. The reason being that we need to be in such close contact with all our swimmers. We will keep you updated on all the information as it comes out.

Update on COVID-19 & Debbies Learn to Swim.

Due to the rapidly developing situation with COVID-19, we have made the very difficult decision to suspend all swimming lessons effective immediately.
Taking into consideration the prevention measures currently recommended by health authorities such as social distancing, we have made this decision with our number one priority being the health and wellbeing of our swimmers, staff and families.
All classes will be suspended until further notice, clients will receive credits towards future lessons.
Thankyou for your continued support of our small community business.
Thanks
Debbie

WE ARE OPERATING AS USUAL.

WE WANT TO KEEP YOU AND YOUR
CHILDREN SAFE.

We are ramping up the cleaning of all surfaces that you may come in contact with, we also have pine o clean wipes above the baby change tables so that you can wipe the surface down before and after contact with your child. We have glen 20 spray and pine o clean wipes in the bathroom so you can use as you feel necessary.
The chlorinator is working at full capacity and we have an extra large filtration system.
We are removing all toys to limit contact.

We are offering unlimited make up lessons to all those parents who have notified us of any absences.
Parents are being vigilant in keeping their child home if they believe they are sick.
For this we want to thank you. It makes it so much easier for us to keep things as normal as possible for your children.
We ask that you not attend lessons if you have traveled overseas or been in contact with anyone with the coronavirus.

Thank you everyone
Debbie, Mel, Jess and Teresa
