Shigar Fort
“History is not the past but a map of the past, drawn from a particular point of view, to be useful to the modern traveller.”
The is an old fort of Baltistan and Pakistan located in the town of Shigar. It was built in the 17th century by the Raja of Amacha Dynasty of Shigar.
The fort has been restored by Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan (AKCSP-P), the Pakistan arm of the Aga Khan Historic Cities Programme. After restoration, the Fort was converted to a museum and luxury hotel managed by Serena Hotels. The restoration process took place from 1999 to 2004.

Gulmit (Wakhi/Urdu: گلمت), also known as Gul-e-Gulmit, is a town that serves as headquarters of the Gojal, also known as Upper Hunza, in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. Gulmit is a centuries-old historic town, with mountains, peaks and glaciers. It is a tourist spot and has many historic places, hotels, and shops as well as a museum.
Before 1974, Hunza was a princely state, and Gulmit was the summer capital of the state. After the abolition of the state it became the tehsil's seat of government. The oldest intact house in Gulmit is more than six centuries old. Most people in Gojal Valley have Central Asian ancestry. The people speak Wakhi language .
There are many forts and fortresses in Gojal valley, such as Qalanderchi fort in Misghar valley and Rash*t fort in Chipursan valley, but Ondra fort is the most prominent. This fort perches on Ondra hill, which overlooks Gulmit and Ghulkin villages. The fort is believed to have been built by Qutlug Baig in the 16th century.
This fort is still a destination for domestic and international tourists. From Ondra fort one has a panoramic view of Gulmit. From the south one can see Gulmit and as far as Shishkat villages and from the north one can view the Ghulkin village. From the north one can enjoy seeing Ghulkin glacier, Tupopdan and Qaroon peak. From the west, there are views of Gulmit
Glacier, Gulmit Tower, Shisper Peak and Utlar Sar.

Gulmit is surrounded by mountains on all sides. To the extreme north is Tupopodon, while on the south is Ghawush. Standing tall in the east is Mount Pulpul, and in the west is Gulmit Tower, right above the Shutubar Glacier. Gulmit Tower, a vertical monolith, is yet to be climbed.

Historical sites of Shahrisabz

1.Ak-Saray Palace
Ak-Saray Palace is a ruined palace and historic site in Shahrisabz, Uzbekistan. The palace was built at the beginning of the Timurid period, between 1380 and 1404, under the reign of Timur. In 2000, the palace was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

2.Kok Gumbaz Mosque / Dorut Tilovat (Dorut Tilavat) Complex

Dor-i-Tilavat/Dorut Tilovat/Dor al-Tilavat (House of recitation) is a madrasa in Shahrisabz, Uzbekistan.

Dorut Tilovat was first constructed in the thirteenth century by Shams ud-Din Kulal (not to be confused with his grandson, also named Shams ud-Din Amir Kulal (d. 1370)). Shams ud-Din belonged to a scholarly family. Many noble families sent their sons to study at Dorut Tilavat. One of these famous protégés (murid) was Turghai (d. 1356 AD) – Amir Timur’s father. Turghai held Shams ud-Din in high esteem, and so did his son Timur, who considered Shams ud-Din’s grandson Amir Kulal as his spiritual guide. At his death Shams ud-Din was buried at the madrasa Dorut Tilavat.

3.Hazrat-i Imam Complex
East of the Kok Gumbaz is another mausoleum complex called Dorus-Saodat (Seat of Power and Might), which contains the Tomb of Jehangir, Timur's eldest and favorite son. The adjacent mosque is said to house the tomb of a revered 8th century imam Amir Kulal

4.Tomb of Timur
Behind the Hazrat-i Imam Emsemble is a bunker with a door leading to an underground chamber, discovered by archaeologists in 1943. The room is nearly filled with a single stone casket, on which inscriptions indicate that it was intended for Timur. However, the conqueror was buried in Samarkand, not at Shahrisabz, and mysteriously, his tomb in Shahrisabz contained two unidentified corpses.

Khunjerab Pass
At the end of the majestic Karakoram Highway, adjacent to the mighty Karakoram Range lies the highest-paved international border crossing, the Khunjerab pass. Pakistan’s Karakoram mountain range is a place of almost indescribable beauty. It is the best place to visit as it is in a strategic position on the northern border of Pakistan Gilgit Baltistan’s Hunza and on the southwest border of China, this pass is located at an altitude of 15,397 ft.
Besides a gleaming metal structure with Chinese inscriptions, this place has a lot to offer. Chinese tourists on the other side of the border, with gleaming smiles and waving hands standing against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks and fields of purple wildflowers are heartwarming to witness in the cold breezes of Khunjerab plains. One can be lucky to witness Himayalan Ibex and Snow Leopards on the Karakoram Highway on their way to Khunjerab.
