A lot of Townsville is under water again ( 270ml for me so far since yesterday).
All bus services are cancelled ( including a some private school bus services).

UPDATE as at 9:15am Thursday 20/3/25. Airport access roads have returned to normal. Both Meenan Street and John Melton Black Drive are open and Halifax Street has been closed.

As a result of significant rainfall overnight and this morning Meenan Street is closed and John Melton Black Drive has water over the road in some parts.

As such, we have opened the gate on Halifax Street to allow a safe alternative entry to the airport.

Travel insurance
It’s not a luxury, it’s a necessity.
Please please please be aware of what you are and are not covered for.
Just this week I have been either speaking with or have been made aware of situations that have arisen with “but it was cheaper“ insurance providers who have been left with massive medical bills.
If you are skiing- you need insurance. If you are going on a cruise - you need insurance. If you are going to the USA you 100% need insurance.
Some countries you must have insurance to visit ( and that means even being allowed on the plane or ship to the destination).
Don’t assume certain activities are covered - even basic ones like horse riding or snorkeling.
Take out insurance as soon as you start paying for your holiday- that way you are covered should anything unforseen happen between now and the trip actually starting.
Do not ride a moped or scooter if you don’t have a licence to ride one in Australia.You just will not be covered!
Cancellation or amendment fees can be very expensive- or deposits may be non refundable.
Cover yourself before you leave.
The last thing your family needs in an emergency is to deal with a go fund me page to get the help you may desperately need.
