Although Aly loves Arabian horses, it's only in Australia that you get a chance to ride an Australian Blonde Brumby.

Throwback to 2021 with the Smiling French Riders from Sydney when I started making videos and they were sooooo long! 😂 With my fabulous beach horses: the Grey Arab with the perfectly fitting name Supreme Dream (RIP), Kuta The Bullet (semi-retired), Valentino (semi-retired), and redhead Toby (semi-retired). Semi-retired means they can still come to the beach, but never at this speed ever again, as their legs wouldn’t hold up to it. The new generation is stepping up.

What was expected to be wet and windy beach ride (and therefor I did not take my camera), became a stunning day with a kind observer filming us just as we slowed down after cantering to the end of the beach. The riding guests and I played on the obstacle course today and I thought I'll see how Epona would go as she's never been on the course. Here she is enjoying the view on the seesaw. I think it is safe to say she's a winner for the obstacles. We rode on the seesaw too. Will share more later.
Practising your horsemanship skills both from the ground and ridden on the obstacle course is part of the Horse Explore Program that combines Trail rides with a variety of other horse activities in the arena and obstacle course. I'm a firm believer that spending time with horses should not only be riding them but also trying to become a better horse person in general by learning to understand them better, their needs, their nature and how they communicate which is mostly via energy, reading body language, and much much more. Horse holidays don't need to be only about horse riding. Let's appreciate the horses for who they are and not just for how they can serve us.
The Blonde Brumby, Kalypso and I made it to Glenreagh for the Cowboy Dressage Championships. Such a friendly supportive group of people and a relaxed atmosphere, where doing right by your horse comes before competition. Kalypso did so well, he was relaxed and openminded. Blondie was quite nervous and stressed but improved as the day went on. Next time I will bring his emotional support horse Dodge along for him again.
