Speaker’s corner at Yarra Bank, just across from Halpern’s giant Angel sculpture. From 1890 it was a place for oration and debate. Today it’s a quiet place in the heart of the city. Worth a visit for a peaceful picnic, and could also be a good place to speak your mind.

Mystery of the missing fearless girl of federation square solved. She has been removed and is being kept safe in Fed Square office until a new location is found. She has always had to fight for a place in the world and she will continue to do so.

Celebrating women of Melbourne in anticipation of international women’s day.
A wonderful walk with women of Melbourne through the ages; Imposing Queen Victoria, Nymphs from the 20’s, Djirri Djirri dancers, Tilly Aston, Edith Cavell, Betty Cuthbert and Shirley Strickland, the awesome Diana and the Hounds, and Margaret Douglass who walked 1000 miles is 1000 hours in 1858.
The great petition of 1891 began the quest that took 19 bills over 17 years for women to be able to vote on equal terms with men in Victoria.
