The central event of the Crimean campaign was the siege of Sevastopol. An interesting fact is that the city of Sevastopol is not just a city, but a world legend. the heroic defence of Sevastopol lasted 349 days. In a relatively short period of time, the war claimed more than a million human lives: Russians and Ukrainians, Turks and French, British, Australians and Scots, Italians, Georgians and Armenians. The Crimean War immortalised many Crimean names. Crimean trail can be found in Italy, Turkey, Britain, France, Australia and the USA.
Perhaps the most popular Crimean name abroad is Sevastopol. There are settlements with this name on the island of Mauritius, in the state of California (USA), Sevastopol is also in the states of Wisconsin, Indiana and Missouri. There is also a Sevastopol Park Museum located in the state of Texas. Most of the Crimean names are found in Australia due to its British Heritage. Australia has its own piece of Crimea: Inkerman street, Sebastopol street, Balaclava street, Crimea street, Alma Road, Sebastopol town, even a Sevastopol well.
In addition, on our continent is the small town of Balaklava, founded in 1870 by a former participant in the Crimean War, known for its equestrian track.
