The last of the 3 art projects for this last unit in Visual Art Cert. IV..
Feeling relieved that at last I made it before the due date.. I could have done better, but I am just glad that I didn’t drop out..
The 2 years lock down gave me opportunity to heal emotionally.. Studying Visual Arts opened doors and windows that kept me trapped .. For more than 60 years, I was trapped in the mindset that I could not relate to.. trapped in the culture I was born into… trapped in religious beliefs, traditions, myths.. trapped in the commercialism and materialism of this world.. trapped in relationships and the twisted notion of family ties, and trapped in the system of things that stagnated my mindset..
Amazing that after I finished working on this piece, automatically, I no longer feel trapped..When I look back at the start of VisArt Cert lll, all I wanted is to discover if I have a hidden talent that needs to come out.. But what I discovered is that, Art is a Healer… And so, the purpose in continuing on to Cert lV , is to heal completely.. I wanted to heal from within.. No longer feeling trapped..👍😊❤️..*hazelvee*

*CAGED*.. is the title of one of my three final art projects... Inspired by the memories and lessons I learned from this tiny cockatiel we named Seth.. Freed at last 12 years ago..
We spent a few quite moments before we buried Seth in the garden....Thanked Seth for all the whistling, chirping, singing, ringing phones, and all the many different sounds that he learnt to imitate like broken records... thanked Seth for all the hellos and kissy kissies 😉 ... and for alerting me with his barking when there are people around 😉 ...
But most of all, I thanked this little tiny creature for showing me a great lesson about how precious freedom really is... Never again will I have birds in cages .. They deserve to fly, to perch on trees, mingle with other birds, enjoy the beauty of the surroundings from up there while flying freely... They deserve to bathe in the rain and feel it run on their cheeks...They deserve to experience how to gather twigs and leaves to make nests in places out there of their choices.... Birds are not meant to be caged ... Close to 18 years in his cage, thou I let him out on many occasions, he was too scared to go far🥺😢.... With his wings clipped, how could he not be scared?😭... Many times, I felt guilty for caging him in...Sentenced him to life in prison for our own entertainment ....
We humans truly are the most cruel of all creatures 😞 ...
We need to learn... we have to learn lessons from all other creatures great and small.... but most of all we need to learn lessons from all the mistakes, and the cruelties we made....

The two years lockdown has been very productive for me 👍.. I hit rock bottom for the last time and I survived the “ I just wanna disappear into thin air” episodes.. Thanks to Visual Arts and the most amazing people I met through this course..I am very grateful for the experience 😍🥰👍.. 2023 is my 40th year in the land down under😊.. Finally, EyeAm Home.. No longer Trapped.. Free as a bird outside of cage..😊.. It’s really true that life begins at 40😉🤣..

I am enjoying my art experiment🥰👍🏻.. I am happy with recycled materials, homemade paints and glue.. It’s taking time but I still have that patience😉.. This actually feels like doing beadwork on a wedding dress.. Taking extra care not to damage materials..

I am using my homemade paint and homemade glue .. Drying takes time.. But I am enjoying this experiment and I am taking my time, although I hope I finish it ...

PATIENCE is vital for our survival..Patience always bring out the best in us.. Patience is a virtue..Healing takes time, so we need to have patience.. It took me 60 something years to heal.🙄 and not until I became a wannabe artist..🤣..Good thing I was very patient😉😊 ...

Years went just like that..😲.. I was 19 years old when this photo was taken. I still remember designing my cotton top with butterfly collar and my navy blue bell pants😉.. And I loved my Noah's Arc shoes..🤣 ..

I was overseas when this pandemic started..I didn't really feel too worried about it.. But I was anxious going on board the plane flying back home without wearing mask.. Freaked out that I could get this virus and risk the health of my family specially the grandkids.. Three weeks before my flight to come back home, I went to all the chemists in the city, but masks were all sold out.. So I just handsewn a couple of masks using toweling materials..

We're booked to fly back to the Philippines 27th of March, so I made proper masks.. but since we're stuck here, I got carried away making more.. I made masks for all the children and grandkids.. I thought just in case "the experts" tell us that it's mandatory to wear mask when we go out in public..

I came up with this design that is comfortable to wear.. and it's filtered.. and washable..We don't want to add anymore disposables to MotherNature.. I wore one a week ago when we went out shopping.. A couple of ladies asked where I got it and told them I made it.. I took it off and showed them how it's sewn.. So, I thought it would be a good idea to make a video to show others how to make their own.. I've seen some DYI mask videos on youtube, but this one that I designed I think is more comfortable to wear.. It's a little bit more fiddly but it's worth it .. My son gets asked by some customers at his work where he got his mask, and he sold three so far ...

We don't know, how long this crazy virus will disrupt our lives.., and here is Australia they still tell us that it's not necessary to wear mask unless you are sick.. But in the Philippines, like in China, it's mandatory.. We have to treat ourselves as if we have the virus, and we don't want to spread it around .. It is better to wear it as they are now saying that the you can still get it even with the social distancing.. I am trying to keep calm, but I am starting to become paranoid..

Anyway, let's all hope that this nightmare will soon be over.. Please take extra care.. Concentrate on your well being.. That's all we can do for now ..
