On Wednesday 11 September our volunteer train Driver, on a scheduled service from Walhalla, stopped to inspect the train at track level. He sustained serious injuries after slipping down a steep area beside the track.

Great news!

Welcome Back!

WGR is delighted to announce that we will be recommencing train services next Wednesday 16 October.💐👏🤸 We can't wait to see you all!

We have received clearance to operate on our track again and our crews will be using trolleys to ensure the whole line is clear and ready to go for next Wednesdays reopening.

Our volunteer loco driver who was injured on Wednesday 11 September is recovering well and is keen to return to duties at the Railway. He has been overwhelmed and appreciative of all the well wishes and support he has received.

WGR would like to thank all those who helped with this incident and those that have worked so hard to satisfy the rail safety requirements. Our members and supporters have provided their expertise, others have shown care and comfort at this stressful time.

Tomorrow is our AGM. If you are keen to see our spectacular railway prosper into the future why not come along to the meeting - starting at 1pm at Walhalla station.

🚧An update on the current situation - our volunteer train driver who was injured last week remains in hospital and is expected to have a full recovery.

However, we are unable to indicate the length of time it will take for the Railway to satisfy the national rail safety regulator's compliance requirements. WGR is not able to reopen the line until requirements are met.

Train services will not be available for some time. All prebooked tickets will be refunded or exchanged for a later date once a timeframe for reopening is known.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience, but rest assured our team is working as hard as possible to get the train back on track as soon as possible.

🛎We have listened to you and are now running three trains per day on the weekend! A fresh start for a new spring day.

Commencing from this Wednesday onwards
🚂Wednesday running will be 10am and 12pm.
🚂Trains running at 10am, 12pm and 1.30pm Saturday and Sunday.

You have said you would like earlier trains too so we will start from Walhalla station at 10am! This might encourage you to stay overnight the night prior and get an early ride.
