This time last week, Allira Potter and her partner Imogen were greeted to Langhorne Creek Wine Region by vibrant orange vineyards. Hued with autumnal tones, this backdrop set the stage for a perfect day of wine tasting and food pairing. 🍂🍷

Their first stop was Kimbolton Wines, where they were treated to a wine and cheese flight. Then they popped up to the rooftop bar to soak up the sprawling scenes. Of course, Allira couldn't leave without picking up a bottle to take home, landing on the Grapes for Good collaboration with Monarto Safari Park. 🧀🐆

Lake Breeze Wines was next on the agenda, with their dog-friendly cellar door and gourmet lunch menu. The couple were blown away by tantalising lemongrass grilled pork belly and grain fed fillet steak, complimented by their 2023 Nero d’Avola. 🥩

After a tour of the barrel rooms, they wandered over to Vineyard Road Cellar Door for a wine and chocolate pairing. Hand tempered white, milk, and dark chocolate melted beautifully with Rose, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. An afternoon well spent if you ask us! 🍫

Winter is the best time to view our galaxy - the darkness and the crisp cold nights provide an atmosphere incredibly favourable for viewing. It is also the time of year that the centre of the Milky Way sits directly above us.

There's limited rainfall in the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve, and we're known for our cloudless nights. When rain does arrive it’s welcomed because it cleanses the atmosphere ridding dust particles, which makes for spectacular telescope viewing. 🤩

In late February, the family known as Trades Travel Country - Mick, Aimee, twins Kane and Lara (15), and Ashton (12) - arrived in our region, where the stunning morning light and gorgeous wildlife of the Coorong National Park welcomed them. 🌎📍

The Jodi Lee Foundation Trek is coming to Murray Bridge from 3-4 May! 🏞🥾 The 2-day 71km hike will weave through Rocky Gully, Kinchina Conservation Park, the Lavender Federation Trail, and Monarto to fundraise for bowel cancer prevention.

The JLF Trek is a fully supported event, and registration fees cover:

✅ Several checkpoints a day which include lunch, snacks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cordial, water and other goodies
✅ Safety and management, including First Aid Services and toilets at every checkpoint
✅ A finish line celebration party on Saturday, including food and drinks, live music and more

Whether you complete the full 71km over two days, or a shorter distance (31.5km or 21.5km) on the Saturday, it will be an inspiring weekend to explore our rugged landscapes. 🌳🌎

Talk about a sunset 😍 Here at Big Bend (near Nildottie), the limestone cliffs are some of the tallest along the Murray River, and are rich with ocean fossils and colonies of bats.
