Seeing this pool from by makes me excited for our pool being installed in a few weeks - because we have chosen these exact tiles for inside the pool, but with a stone surround…

I was a bit nervous to pick a green tile, because I was scared the water will look murky or mouldy! But as much as I love the white tiles (which give that real island looking water) my heart kept being drawn back to sukabumi stone which looks really similar to these ‘trace’ tiles from sukabumi is used a lot in Bali and this colour gives me that Bali vibe of a pool!

Anyway, this picture is the first example I’ve seen using these tiles and I think from seeing it I’ve made the right choice!

Would you do a green pool? Or do you love that pure white vibe?

Todays inspiration for our kahibah project - the laundry!!

Often a forgotten room of the house - but when we spend so much time here - why not make it pretty - and most of all, functional!

These images were my top inspo for the laundry, which will really be an extension of our mudroom - last images are our drawing mock-ups.

My must haves for the laundry:

1. I wanted a big work space to be able fold etc (aka leave all the washing on the bench all week!)
2. I wanted a few pull out laundry hampers so I can sort out the washing into colours to make washing easier and quicker!
3. A ironing board in a drawer I can quickly pull out for the one day a year I iron
4. A hanging rail to hang clothes that aren’t quite dry yet or need ironing etc!
5. A big deep sink that we can wash the babies in!
6. Door straight outside to where the washing line is!

Key things to remember when designing a laundry is to remember how you want to use the space - think about what you want to use each cupboard and drawer for.

Remember to install a PowerPoint in your broom cupboard for the vacuum!

Two things we didn’t do that I wish we did in retrospect is:
1. Make the bench top wider so that the washing machine and dryer don’t stick out past it - we did want to do this but unfortunately our door was in the way so we couldn’t!
2. Dryers these days can be plumbed in - I didn’t know this when I bought a dryer the other day as we didn’t allow for plumbing for that!

This cold weather has me excited for our fireplace in the new place which is getting framed up now - the fireplace has been probably the biggest debacle we have had the entire build! Jesse wanted a Wood-fire and was pretty adamant on that - and as much as I adore pot belly fires, I don’t particularly love the look of them when the tv has to go on the same wall.. I feel like they deserve all the attention! So we decided on a mantle which are suprisingly very hard to find and fit!! Then you have to get a surround made (still no idea where to get that!)

Our fire I didn’t want to be an open fire because of dust and ash and the smell (and danger with the kids) and so there’s also not many options for a closed in wood fire! We have ordered a Stuv-6 from which look to be the nicest in terms of how much fire you actually get to see and that don’t look too modern.. gas is much easier to get that nice seamless look 😅

Anyway, that’s my fireplace rambles.. suprisingly so many tiny decisions for one little space! But boy do they pack a punch when done right!

Our Kahibah renovation is really coming underway now.. getting closer to completion!

1. Blackbutt timber flooring going down in the living room
2. Blackbutt hardwood flooring
3. Main bathroom waterproofed ready for tiling
4. Mudroom door on and painting underway
5. Florences intricate ceiling done for her reading nook
6. Master bedroom first coat of paint done
7. Upstairs hallway painting beginning

this bathroom was quite hard to design as it was a renovation of our existing bathroom. It’s quite small and pokey but we knew we needed a bath with three kids! We went back and forth with the design - our lovely friend Lauren from @onsite.collective helped with the final plans because I absolutely loved her bathroom and the layout was exactly what we could work with! I also took great inspiration from @courtneyadamo bathroom I loved the timber floors but you can’t do timber floors anymore so we incorporated timber and homely looks with this vintage cabinet we found on the side of the road near our house! We also sourced a vintage mirror on Facebook, which our son broke, and then had to get it reglazed! We used stone off cuts from our kitchen for the vanity top, and used a @victoria_albert_baths bathtub and sink as the bath is the perfect small size to fit our space! Some things I like that we always do in bathrooms: 1. Hide the recess in the shower because no matter how hard you try, the soap bottles never look nice! This keeps the bathroom really clean! 2. Hide the toilet from site from the hallway and it’s also hidden from the shower too 3. Used towel hooks over rails to free up wall space 4. Used brass for all fixtures and fittings including the drain! Nothing worse than one random stainless steel fitting! 5. Used skirting boards and VJ lining boards over tiles - I’m not personally a fan of a skirting tile so this is the perfect solution and makes the room look really homely and less ‘bathroom’
