Standing tall within , this stunning hike is one of our absolute favourites (and if you've been there, we're sure you know exactly why!).

The climb up the easy slope to the summit leads to incredible panoramic views of the rugged landscapes, the southern coastline, and the beautiful islands of the Recherché Archipelago.

With gravel tracks, wooden boardwalks, and exposed granite along the way, the (almost) vertical ascent is totally worth it. And after all that effort, treat yourself to a warm cinnamon bun from 🍪

Have you visited these salt lake statues? 🏊‍♀️

If you're cruising through Western Australia’s Wheatbelt, make sure to stop by the 'Waiting for Hay' statues by local farmer and artist Kelly Browning. Known unofficially as 'Statues Lake', these one-of-a-kind sculptures, made with star pickets, form part of the Kondinin Art Trail. Inspired by her love of swimming, Kelly added an addition called 'Freestyllin' to the mix.

If you're wanting to visit on your next road trip, you can pull up at the parking bay adjacent and view the sculptures from roadside 😍 In the cooler months, the lake has been known to shift colours from white, to icy blue and bright green.

Have you visited this secluded beach? 🤔

Characterised by the towering mountains, Four Mile Beach is a stunning stretch of coastline located within Fitzgerald River National Park ⛰️

While most of the beach lies in the National Park, the eastern side is outside its bounds, so your four-legged furry friend can also tag along. For the fishing enthusiasts, the eastern side also has an easy 4WD access where the large inlet meets the ocean, making it a prime spot for fishing. Over on the western side, you'll discover a DBCA campground for a seaside overnight stay.

Have you heard of Day Dawn townsite?

Located just a few kilometres south-west of Cue in the Gascoyne-Murchison region, Day Dawn was once a bustling town with a population of 3,000 people in the early 1900s. Its rapid rise and prosperity were driven by the Great Fingall gold mine, which extended 700 metres deep. Today, the only remaining structure from this historic township is the Great Fingall Mine Office, standing a mere 10-metres from the edge of the mine site. Over 100 years old, the office has weathered from the harsh conditions of the region. Visitors can snap a photo from the outside of the fence to help preserve the building.

Where is the Golden Outback?

Western Australia’s Golden Outback is a vast and surprisingly diverse region of outback Australia. Covering more than 50 per cent of the State, it stretches from the rugged red earth of Mt Augustus in the north of the Gascoyne-Murchison region to the sweeping snow-white beaches of Esperance and the South Coast.

At the very heart of Western Australia’s Golden Outback lies the modern mining hub of Kalgoorlie and the Goldfields, offering fascinating insights into the history and heritage of the wild gold rush days. And in the Wheatbelt to the west, picturesque rolling farmland is dotted with colourful rural townships ideal for a weekend getaway from the City of Perth.

Visitors can immerse themselves in a fascinating and memorable mix of nature, history, adventure and discovery - all against the dramatic backdrops of blue skies, wide horizons or spectacular oceans. During the spring months from July to November the wildflower displays are mesmerising. The region is criss-crossed by roads, trails, tracks and pathways that resonate with Western Australia’s pioneering past. A network of quality sealed roads takes visitors through the region, with many linked to exciting and challenging gazetted pathways and trails that offer a range of interpretive signs at points of interest along the way. Visit www.australiasgoldenoutback.com and start planning your itinerary.
