Incase you missed it, something very special happened in The Margaret River Region last night - The Aurora Australis came to town..! 🤩

Perched atop the iconic headland north of Injidup Beach, local photographer Hamish Stubbs Photography ventured out into the dead of night and was rewarded handsomely for his efforts. 🙌🏻

"A very rare occurrence to see the Aurora Australis this far north" according to Hamish, an avid landscape photographer who loves to create imagery along the dramatic coastlines of the south west. 📷

Commonly known as the 'Southern Lights' this heavenly phenomenon is typically reserved for travellers venturing down to the deep southern latitudes of Antarctic waters. Thanks to the glorious clear skies experienced along this south western tip of Western Australia dreams turned into reality. ✨

𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘅 𝗪𝗔

Pedal Prix WA 🏁 is on this Sunday 21 August, at the Busselton Forshore (West of The Equinox).

This competition will see teams race Human Powered Vehicles (HPV) on a closed controlled circuit, over a 6 hour period from 10am - 4pm. The race is part of the UniSA HPV’s Super Series, staged by Australian International Pedal Prix.

Come down to witness this exciting event and join the City in supporting HPV racing in WA.

The sky is the limit: Hot Air Ballooning edition! 🔥💨🎈

In 2023, the skies of the Avon Valley in Northam will transform into a colourful vista of hot air balloons:
🎈 May 5 to 13 for the Australian National Ballooning Championships
🎈 September 4 to 9 for the Women’s World Hot Air Ballooning Championships.

Thousands of visitors are expected to travel to the region for these championship events, spending millions of dollars and supporting local tourism operators, the region’s amazing bars and its restaurants while there 🙌

Exciting news WA - a series of enormous wooden sculptures are going to be installed throughout Mandurah towards the end of 2022.

The giants will be up to five metres tall and placed in secret locations - just waiting to be discovered!

We know that this addition to Mandurah will be sure to attract more visitors to our incredible Peel region, and provide a boost to the local economy.

A new sculpture trail is set to impress visitors in the Peel region ✨🗿🤩

The Australian-first outdoor exhibition will showcase enormous wooden sculptures by internationally acclaimed Danish artist Thomas Dambo 🌟

Supported by Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program and delivered by FORM, the year-long project is expected to bring thousands of visitors to the region and stimulate the local economy 🤑

The series of sculptures will be installed in Mandurah in late 2022, in locations waiting to be discovered and explored 👀

With interstate and international travel returning in full tomorrow, we want to give visitors the opportunity to experience all that WA has to offer – while ensuring local tourism operators enjoy the benefits.

That’s why we're providing 3,400 two-person 'Gifts From Western Australia' vouchers, ranging in value from $150 to $2,200 - with experiences from skydiving at Rottnest Island, to swimming with dolphins, to sunset stargazing at the Pinnacles on offer.

These new 'Gifts From Western Australia' vouchers will be handed out at random to lucky arrivals to WA at Perth Airport from midnight tonight – and we’re throwing in 200 toy quokkas for the first flights from Sydney and Melbourne to promote Rottnest Island.

Gorgeous shallow warm water at Edward Island Point today . Looks like a lot of the sand the Shire dumped onto the beach has washed into the point . It certainly has made an awesome shallow area full of tropical 🌴 feeling warm waters!

想再近距離睇真啲，乘坐觀鯨船出海🛳️ ，就有機會近距離欣賞到鯨魚躍身擊浪又或者以擺尾嘅招牌動作，觀賞呢啲性情溫和嘅海洋巨人最佳時間係中午日正當空☀️ 嘅時候。

The Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park bushfire just now, this photo taken from near Gnarabup.

There are two emergency warning fires in the South West - one in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and another near Yallingup in the City of Busselton.
