How exciting ! Emirates have today announced that they will be flying their iconic A380s out of Perth, effective 1 May 2015. The 10.30pm flight will be the winner, which will see an increase of around 1800 seats per week out of Perth. Yay !

Icky rainy day = perfect time to finish off that ATAS application. For those not in the know, the Australian Travel Industry changed the laws (especially in WA) regarding licencing for travel agents. We have always been a licenced agent, but with the licences no longer being required, as a member of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents, we are in the process of becoming ATAS accredited. This confirms that we are a legitimate travel agency. Which we all know anyway - this is just the bit of paper that proves it !

There is some movement in the cruise industry today with the announcement that Ocean Princess will be moving to Oceania Cruises. Have you sailed with Ocean Princess?

Breaking News:
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has announced a definitive agreement with Princess Cruises to purchase Ocean Princess for its newly acquired Oceania Cruises brand. The 684-passenger ship joins Insignia, Regatta, and Nautica and will be named Sirena. Upon delivery in March 2016, Sirena will undergo a 35-day, $40 million refurbishment to add Oceania Cruises’ renowned specialty dining restaurants, Toscana and Polo Grill, along with more recent additions to the fleet such as Baristas and the cook-to-order grill at Terrace Café. Sirena will welcome her first guests in late April 2016. The inaugural season for Sirena will be released in late February 2015 with reservations opening on March 4, 2015.

“Premicon Hochseeschiff GmbH & Co. KG MS Astor” the owners of MS ASTOR released a statement last night Australian time, that they had declared insolvency and a Managing Director has been appointed. Restructuring plans were taking place and that the operation and continuation of the Astor vessel is secure.
Christian Verhounig Chairman & CEO CMV Holdings the charterers of Astor commenting on this announcement issued the following statement:
"The liquidation concerns the ownership company of ASTOR and has no ramifications for Cruise & Maritime Voyages or ASTOR which is under a long term bareboat charter to CMV.
CMV has complete management of the vessel including all operational and management functions.
ASTOR sailed from London Tilbury 5th November to Fremantle to commence her second season of cruises in Australia.
Regarding the liquidation process, Mr. Verhounig said 'Before the owners applied for insolvency extensive discussions took place and part of the proceeding is, that CMV have the use of the vessel Astor which is bareboat chartered to CMV.
The reason for the announcement is to ensure our travel partners and guests that the cruises are secured for ASTOR's Australian season. CMV is not affected by the problems of the vessels owners and we together with our mother company Global Maritime Group are in full control of the vessel and therefore the vessel will be operating her Australian season as scheduled.
CMV monies are secured as it was in the past and remains as such.
We as Global Maritime Group /CMV are in very close discussions with the owners Management and the courts to find a quick and long term solution for the vessel".
