Another beautiful play space delivered…
It was wonderful to work closely with the passionate team at the City of Melville to help them create a newly opened, and very special play space!
Nestled in the amphitheatre of the existing Piney Lakes Sensory Play Park, this space has a strong focus on providing for children with various needs, with the aim being that every child or adult who visits can engage in a number of different play opportunities.
Our sister company LyPa Australia, created custom pieces for many of the elements, to reflect a sense of peace and to connect to the local area flora and fauna.
From the secluded creature trail at the very bottom (how many creatures can you find?!), to the paw prints you can look at and feel, the rainbow of colours sharing their beauty in different directions at various times of the day, to the top of the tower where the ‘birds’ and ‘leaves’ in the tunnel surround you as you look down towards those below (with those in a wheelchair or with mobility difficulties gaining a perspective they often are excluded from) - there are a myriad of discoveries to be found!
Those with sensory sensitivities will enjoy the small and cosy space at the bottom, sitting quietly in the hanging net or sitting on the beautiful stones towards the edge, observing others, and those who need lots of movement and sensory input may prefer to hang from the monkey bars, zip down the long speedy slide, climb up the centre or spin the rain wheel!
The emotion face cubes at the top provide an opportunity for reflection and discussion - offering different ways to explore a variety of feelings.
Our goal is that all visitors are engaged, enjoying, and exploring this special space and want to return time and time again!
Big thanks to Pineapple Fingers for capturing the magic.
