Prepping for Open Studios ...... my studio will be open from Thursday 25th May to Sunday 28th May ...... I would love to see you 🙂 ❤

Metalsmith Jules McCrae has spent most of her working life in the Arts learning
various skills. It all began with an Assoc. Dip. in Commercial Art followed by an
Apprenticeship in Traditional Signwriting. This led to gaining employment in the
Trade Show Industry doing mural painting and prop making.
All this was teaching her how to work with multiple materials, gaining confidence to
continue to grow and learn as a 3D Artist.
She now mostly works with metals and her works range from large robust sculptures
to delicate Sterling Silver Jewellery

Sculpture on the Edge opens to the Public from tomorrow (Sunday 20th November) until 4th December at Flaxton Gardens
Here is a snippet of my 2 entries this year ...... always worth the visit ...... lots of great sculptures to see with a large selection of indoor and outdoor sculptures this year!

This bespoke handrail was a 70th Birthday gift.
It was a pleasure to work with this lovely lady to create a one of a kind statement for her home.
It was also a fun project to create
(Also a first for me forming the ornate posts down the stairs made from solid 33mm round aluminum bar - a big step up from door handles :) )

So ..... I've been learning how to make glass beads which is so much FUN ...... I'm a bit addicted AND I was named Student of the Month!!! How cool is that! :)
Ursula at The Little Glass House is a great teacher!
She has a workshop set up at Old Ambulance Station in Nambour ...
Highly recommend!

STUDENT OF THE MONTH – JULES

This is Jules. She has completed a few classes and is one of my most patient students. She loves irregular shapes and doesn't mind if something is not perfect straight away. She understands that learning a new skill like this takes time and that its important to enjoy the process. We spent one session making glass shells and the end result was very satisfying. Melting and perfecting glass takes patience but its also really fun. Its been a pleasure to have Jules in my studio.
