Bremer Bay ! Another stunning beach...

A few days in Albany WA, it is part of the Great Southern region. It is the last place our Australian soldiers sighted before heading off to the fateful battleground of World War 1, and the ANZAC battles. Also known as the place the first dawn service was held on ANZAC day.
In addition to this rich history, Albany WA also has a wealth of pristine beaches, extrodinary Cliff faces and balancing granite rocks. We got the opportunity to stand under a wind turbine, and the sounds it makes were amazing.
The most popular attractions are The Gap and Natural Bridge, in Torndirrup National Park, unfortunately it was closed.
We did visit Dog Rock in town, Museum, Anzac memorial and Misery Beach but definitely not a miserable place. A hike to the blow holes, unfortunately a non-event.
We were teased by the Albany oysters, apparently amazing but only available in summer time ! Another non event!
Albany known for great fishing and wineries. We spoke to a few men fishing, they can sure cast a line! If you love fishing this is the spot.
We stayed in a great caravan park in Emu Beach, right on the beach, really relaxing !
This town is like a big history book.
Enjoy our snaps ! 📸

Busselton is a busy town on the WA coast and we stayed on the 'Holy Mile,' it gets its name as a number of seaside camp grounds are owned by various church groups. $32 per night and it was fantastic. No drinking or smoking (sure ! to the drinking part, especially so close to Margaret River). We had excellent park managers. Everything was so well maintained.
The jetty is 1.8km long with a marine park. It is the longest in the southern hemisphere. The weather has not been kind to us.
Margaret River was impressive, a quaint town, and a lovely drive through the country side. Over 200 wineries. So green and lush with colourful spring flowers on the side of the road.
We managed 6 wineries, our favs are Voyager Wines due to the stunning gardens and Swings & Rounabouts.
We did a day trip and stopped at Ngilgi Caves. Limestone caves, very tight stairways & chambers- 39 metres deep. Formations of stalactites and stalagmites of extraordinary length and size. Pretty impressive! Let the pics tell the story for this one.
The highlight for this stop was the whale watching tour out of Dunsborough. To see the mother humpback whales and calves playing in the water and a calf breached, it was pretty special. The season will be over soon and we were lucky to see some 🐋 whales.
On our journey we had to buy another battery for the car fridge. That's battery no 4 and we shuffled the tyres around on the van.
If anyone needs tyres for your van or 4WD, we have a great contact in Thomastown. Exceptional value for big muddies or all terrains.

Enjoying our time in WA.

Two days in 80 Mile beach WA, South Kimberley region.
Despite it's name, its actually 140 miles not 80 miles??? 🤷♀️ Lots of gorgeous shells. I got a handful for my collection. Not much to do here, if your not into fishing and bird watching, its time to just chill out.
As we drive into the Pilbara region, the red desert sand and endless blue sky's, just captivates us. The hottest day, reaching over 40 degrees and we did not cope well with no pool.
The Park advised against swimming in the pristine beach due to sea snakes, sharks and stingrays that come into the shallows.
Someone stepped on a ray in the shallow and a barb went through their foot. Again, the sunsets each night did not disappoint.
We moved onto Port Hedland, the mines and trucks are plotted throughout the landcape,
Port Hedland is a mining town - iron ore, salt, manganese, Lithium, and more 40 degree days.
The trains can be over 7 kilometres long. Lucky there is no level crossings.
Awesome to see my Bretty Boy, Shona and Angus and the legend Steve Davy. Thank you for making time to catch up. Feeling very loved.
Day 166, we stopped two days in Dampier, where the red dog movies were made. One of the sunniest places in Australia, 3,700 hours of sunshine.
Second largest bulk port in the world behind Port Hedland. Great Father's Day event at the local park and frozen cocktails at the yatch club were delish!
Enjoy our pics 📸 and check out how beautiful our country is.

Four days on the road free camping, driving over 1,000 kms as we make our way to Broome.
The hightlights were - greeted by cows at Mary Pool and James Price Point Campground wbich was stunning. Camped on a cliff face watching over the beach. Million dollar views but the risk of getting there was worth it. Over 35kms of corrugated, red dirt and soft sand.
Lisa battered and bruised by falling out of the van ! Sober... definitely did not bounce.

Today's journey, as we make our way to Broome
Mary Kathleen - Uranium mine
We spent 5 days in Port Douglas, it was hot and humid.
The photos below don't do justice to the Daintree Forest and all locations we visited.
We took a ferry ride across the Daintree River and up the mountains. Damage is visual from Cyclone Jasper, with land slides and roads particialy washed away.
Same parts of the road are down to one lane.
We loved the Daintree Centre, which included a tree top walk, animated dinosaurs, education on plants, animals and bush tucker.
Mossman Gorge was so calming and such a natural wonder. Cape Tribulation had a stunning beach but dare not swim 🐊🐊, it amazes us that there are practically no shells and a lot of washed up broken coral.
We stayed at a wonderful tropical park that made our stay so enjoyable. We meet up with some of our travelling mates and meet new ones.
5 stars for Port Douglas.
We now make our way to Darwin across the Savannah Way and 2700kms ahead of us and red dust!
Hope you are enjoying life whereever you are !
