I'm Ria, the hands and heart behind Rialistic. My fibre art journey began with my awesome grandma teaching me the ropes of knitting, sewing, and embroidering. Those early stitches set me on a creative path that's been winding through colours and textures ever since. School days saw me geeking out over fibre construction, exploring natural and man-made fibres. It's all about strength and comfort, h
oping my shawls stick around for generations ā Rialistic, right? While I've officially called myself a crochet artist for a decade, I've been knee-deep in fibre art forever. No fancy degrees here ā I've taught myself a mishmash of hand embroidery, sewing, quilting and more from dusty old library books. Learning from some wonderful folks in one-on-one settings has been invaluable. And fashion history? I'm hooked, especially on the 1600s. It's like a time-travel adventure with needles and thread. My work might be a bit clumsy, but it's my nod to those lost techniques of yesteryear. As a crochet and fibre artist, Iām on a mission to blend tradition with my own twist. Each piece is a dance of colour, texture and form. Nature is my muse, from the symmetry of petals to the curves of seashells. It's not just a visual thing. Run your fingers over my creations; they're made for touching. Every piece is a tactile journey, an experience beyond the eyes. My colours? Emotions, memories, dreams ā they all play a part. It's an invitation for you to feel and interpret. Light and shadow join the party, creating ever-changing compositions. Crochet, for me, is a calming ritual. It's my way of slowing down in a fast, digital world. Through my art, I want to share this mindfulness, the joy of creating by hand and the timeless beauty of crochet and fibre.
