Did you know there is a suspension bridge?
The Flaxton Mill Road to Baxter Creek suspension bridge section in Mapleton National Park is part of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk. It’s a 6.2km return, and you’ll need to allow about 4–5 hours.

The southern approach is almost 2 kms longer then the northern approach and starts from a small car park off Flaxton Mill Road (across from Old Mill Lane) in
Flaxton.
Take the track past the Flaxton Walker's Camp and follow the signs to Baxter Falls.

From the northern approach.
The trail starts from Suses Pocket Road in Mapleton, 1.75 hours drive north of Brisbane.
The best spot for parking is on Esmaurel Close, 100m up Obi Obi Road from Suses Pocket Road. This is a residential street so be sure to respect those that live in the area when parking.

Three years ago, I went with some friends to Baxter Falls near Mapleton in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. I hadn’t been there before so I was really looking forward to getting some nice waterfall photos of it. Disappointingly, I found that doing that wasn’t so straightforward! 😬 You can’t get a clear view of it! The pool that the main falls drops into is a couple of metres higher than the lower pool. The rock walls on either side of the gorge are fairly steep and the lower pool in front is too deep to wade. I could have swum up to it and climbed the couple of metres to the upper pool 🏊 but I didn’t want to risk my camera gear. So I decided I’ll have to return again with my drone.
But before leaving I took this photo of the suspension bridge from a few metres downstream.
If you’re thinking of visiting ... Beware!
The track was very slippery! One of our party fell and broke her ankle 😢 She’s all good now though ... thankfully 🙏😊
