We endeavour to instil a sense of pride in local culture and value by making sure that wherever possible villagers benefit from foreign visitors by using local services. We are life members of KEEP (Kathmandu Educational and Environmental Project) committed to raising environmental awareness. We are committed to trekking in a way that does not harm the local environment, ie: with camping groups, we always carry kerosene, so that no local wood need to be used to cook our food, and we remove all our rubbish - leaving only footprints. Our journey from Split to Kotor driving along the Adriatic coast was breathtaking, and even the border crossing went smoothly. Finding accommodation right on the shores of Kotor Bay was a fantastic choice, providing both beautiful views and easy access to the water. I put a lot of effort into selecting the perfect spot, and it paid off with a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Swimming in the bay, savoring gourmet local food, and enjoying fine wine with such a stunning backdrop. Today we drove to Lovćen National park where we visited The Petar II Petrović Njegoš Mausoleum is the highest mausoleum in the world, sitting at 1,657m. While you can drive most of the way, you need to scale 461 steps to get to the mausoleum. This sounds like a lot, but in reality it’s a 15 minute walk, and it’s very easy to use the expansive views as an excuse to take breaks ‘to enjoy the view’ as you climb. We could not drive all this way without visiting Njegusi. This historic village is renowned for its traditional Montenegrin cuisine, particularly the famous Njeguski prosciutto and cheese. You visit local restaurants and farms to taste these delicacies and learn about their production. A great end to a perfect 5 weeks holiday with only 1 day of rain. Tomorrow evening we depart for home and we cannot wait to give our beautiful pooch Rain a cuddle.

Last night we stayed in the beautiful seaside town of Tucepi situated on the Makatska Riviera. The Makarska Riviera is a 60-kilometer long strip of beaches and small villages situated just below Biokovo Mountain. This piece of coastline is incredibly scenic and very popular among European tourists. There are many places to stop along the Makarska Riviera and you really can’t go wrong in terms of the scenery and activities. The famous rock jutting out from the sea in Brela, one of the prettiest of the Makarska Riviera beaches. One stop that we missed as it was closed was the Biokovo Skywalk which is an architectural marvel and features a clear glass skywalk hangs over a dramatic cliff edge.
Perched at an altitude of 1,228 meters above sea level and extending 11 meters from the cliff, this viewpoint is the first of its kind in Croatia and offers an adrenaline-pumping experience. For those brave enough to step out onto the transparent platform, the panoramic views from the are nothing short of breathtaking!

After our arrived at Dubrovnik airport we collected our hire car and travelled along the scenic coast to Ston a settlement and a municipality located at the south of isthmus of the Pelješac peninsula. We have loved being n a group travelling through Spain but once again it is nice to feel the freedom of individual travel. Situated just 60km north of Dubrovnik lies the enchanting town of Ston, home to the second longest defense walls in the entire world, just after the Great Wall of China. Built in the 14th and 15th centuries, these impressive walls originally stretched a staggering 7 km and served a dual purpose: protecting the town's valuable salt pans, which are still in operation to this day, and acting as a first line of defense for the important town of Dubrovnik. Now spanning 5.5 km, these historic walls (on the connect Ston to its smaller sibling, Mali Ston. The area is a hotspot for oyster and mussel farming, thanks to the mineral-rich waters. In spring it is quiet and peaceful especially after bustling Barcelona. Tonight we enjoyed a delicious seafood meal at one of Ston’s famous restaurants. Tomorrow we will explore the area and hopefully enjoy a swim in the Mediterranean.

This is my 3rd visit to beautiful Barcelona and I am looking forward to our 3 days here. We began our tour with a drive along the old Harbour to the Plaza de Catalunya, the city’s bustling main square. Afterward, we passed the famous works of Gaudi, the master architect, including the iconic symbol of Barcelona, La Sagrada Familia* as well as Casa Batllo, seemingly constructed from skulls and bones. We spent the afternoon leisurely exploring the many sights Barcelona has to offer. Later in the day we took the fast track line tour to enter
*La Sagrada Familia. For Gaudi, the liturgy was always very important. This is why his involvement in the Sagrada Familia wasn’t limited to its architecture. He also designed pieces of furniture and objects for preaching. All of the works Gaudi conceived stand out for their unique shapes and the fact that they were designed to be used in religious ceremonies and to make both priests and parishioners more comfortable.

During one of our 3 days in Barcelona we enjoyed a full day at leisure to explore Barcelona independently. Later we elected to join a morning tour of Montserrat on an enjoyable relaxing drive passing picturesque villages before reaching Montserrat Mountain. On arrival, we visited the Royal Basilica, where we viewed the famous 12th century Romanesque sculpture of “Virgen Moreneta.”
Our Farewell dinner was enjoyed with the typical Spanish dish of Paella. Tomorrow morning we have an early flight to Dubrovnik. On our 14 day trip through southern Spain we were accompanied by a fantastic friendly group from the USA. We had lots of laughs along the way, everyone was on time each day, no one managed to get lost. It was great to get to know our new found friends from the USA. Tomorrow we have an early flight to Croatia. Let another adventure begin.

This morning, a sightseeing tour of Madrid. Travelling along the Gran Via through the Opera District, Plaza de Colon and viewed the Royal Palace passing by Plaza de Cibeles and Puerta de Alcala Gate. The tour ended at the world-renowned Prado Museum, where we viewed works of art by famous artists such as El Greco, Velázquez, and Ribera. The afternoon we journeyed out of Madrid to take a leisurely tour of Escorial which has often been described as the “eighth wonder of the world”. El Escorial is, perhaps, Philip II ́s most enduring legacy to Spain. Tomorrow we catch the high speed train to beautiful Barcelona

The beautiful gardens of the Moorish influenced Alhambra.
Yesterday we continued down the southern coast and journey to Moorish Granada. Our visit was highlighted by a tour of the 13th century Alhambra,* one of Spain's most celebrated monuments, perched atop Assabica Hill overlooking the entire city. This imposing hilltop fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a fine example of Moorish art and architecture. During the reign of the Moors, the Alhambra served as the residence of the royal family. We waked along the lanes of the Generalife Gardens with its beautifully designed courtyards, waterfalls and ponds and views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Exploring the Costa de Sol has been an amazing experience. From marveling at Picasso families private museum in Malaga to the stunning views from the Rock of Gibraltar, every moment has been unforgettable. The port in Malaga was lined with private yachts some worth USD 200 million. Climbing up to see St. Michael's Cave and the Barbary apes on our tour of Gibralter was definitely a highlight, with those dramatic views of both Spain and Morocco. And the guided tour with the witty guide was a colorful addition to the trip. So far, every day has been filled with new adventures and discoveries.
